4 Ways Busy Moms Can Keep the Family Car in Good Condition

July 6, 2020 by Pam Maynard

Leading a busy life can leave you with little to no time to give to car maintenance. However, without regular upkeep, your vehicle will quickly start to fall apart. Make sure you’re getting every mile out of your car by caring for it with these crucial tips:

4 Ways Busy Moms Can Keep the Family Car in Good Condition

Check the Owner’s Manual

As a busy mom, you may not have much time for leisurely reading, but taking the time to read the owner’s manual is an essential part of maintaining your car. The owner’s manual is filled with critical information specific to the make and model of your car. In the manual, you’ll find tips that will keep your car running smoothly.

Check the owner’s manual for helpful hints like the best fuel for your car, details regarding the warranty, and many other answers to questions you’ll eventually have as a car owner. Remember, the more familiar you are with the manual, the better you’ll be able to care for your car.

Monitor the Tire Pressure

Monitoring your tire pressure is another thing to add to your car owner’s to-do list. While you may not actively consider your vehicle’s tire pressure on a regular basis, under-inflated tires will wear out quickly and contribute to poor gas mileage. Make it a point to check your tire pressure and inflate them per your manufacturer’s specifications. This way, your tires will never be over- or under-inflated.

Replace Your Tires

Car maintenance also requires preventative care. While you needn’t replace your tires frequently, most experts recommend replacing tires every six years. If your car is used, you may need to replace them sooner. Get in contact with tire dealers near you to determine the state of your tires and learn more about when you should replace them.

Change the Oil

Oil changes are another part of keeping your car well-maintained. Reread your owner’s manual to make sure you’re regularly updating the oil as often as your vehicle requires. Most car owners can get by with changing their oil every 5000 miles or six months.

Don’t let your busy schedule run your car into the ground. The better you care for your car, the longer it will run. Use this guide to stay on top of all your car ownership responsibilities amidst your busy lifestyle.
