Things I loved about the Sorento:
I really enjoy driving Kias! The Sorento was perfect for me because i love the SUV style. It sits up higher, it’s easier to get into and it has all the cool features of the Optima and then more! It even gets good gas mileage. I averaged 24 miles to the gallon.
- Back up camera: This has to be the best feature ever! Not only does my son love to watch it, but it makes backing up so much easier.
- Sunroof: We love how even the backseat passengers can take advantage of the panoramic views. It is so quiet when it’s open, it would be perfect for those summer days. Of course, I drove it in December. We didn’t have the sunroof open very long.
- Dual zone ac/heater: My husband loved this feature! He hates having to bear with my heater temperature. Now he doesn’t have to. He can set his own temperature, either heat or A/C.
- Heated seats front and back seat: Living in New England, this is another one of our favorite features. This is the first vehicle that had heated seats in the back! My son was loving that feature.
- Seats 8! My son loved to be able to pack a group of friends into the Sorento. They all fit comfortably. This would make a great vehicle for moms with car seats. Plenty of room in the second row for car seats and let the big kids climb into the third row.
- Air cooled driver’s seat– This was first time I had ever seen a vehicle with an air-cooled driver’s seat. How funny is that? Not sure that I would use it in New England, but it’s great to have the option!
- Push-button start and Smart key: OK, I think the push-button start and Smart key is the best feature of all of the cars I have reviewed. Seriously! It’s so easy to just have the key in your purse but never have to worry about digging it out. I so enjoy that part. When I go back to driving my VW, I don’t look forward to fishing for my keys.
- Heated outside mirrors and the turn signal on the mirror: Again, living in New England, the heated outside mirrors are a big plus! Right now I just stick my gloved hand out the window to clean my driver’s side mirror. And having the turn signal on the outside mirror is a great safety feature.
Things I would improve upon:
The Kia Sorento was an impressive mix of technology and safety in the perfect sized SUV. I really can’t find anything that I would have changed!
My only complaint was the lack of 4-wheel drive. Living in New England, All-Wheel drive or 4-Wheel drive makes me feel much safer driving back and forth to work, especially when the town hasn’t plowed yet. We actually had a little snow before the Sorento left and it didn’t do so well in the snow. I’m sure if it was a 4-Wheel drive, it would have been effortless to drive in the snow.
The Sorento is just the right size to haul a bunch of kids or (when you fold the seats down) a bunch of furniture or 4 large dogs. What more could you ask for in a vehicle!
