One of my favorite DIY projects that I always did with my son was decorating votive holders- especially for the holidays. There is just something magical about a flickering flame in a pretty holder. The more colors and designs you add, the prettier the flame looks. We used colored tissue paper and glue and lots of imagination to make ours! Have you ever made any votive holders?
Just be careful- this Vintage Inspired Map Votive Holder DIY project calls for a battery-operated votive! Do not use a real votive as the paper map will burn.

Supplies needed for your Vintage Inspired Map Votive Holder:
- Map scrapbook paper or actual map
- Mod podge or spray adhesive
- Mason Jar
- Battery operated votive
- Yarn or string
- Scissors
Directions to make your Vintage Inspired Map Votive Holder:
1. Begin by cutting the piece of map or map paper to fit the inside of the jar. You can measure and cut or just line the paper up along the outside of the jar to eye how much you need.
2. Cut the paper and slide it inside of the jar. See if it fits and if not make adjustments.
3. Remove the paper and add some modge podge or clear glue to the edges of the paper. Place it back in the jar and gently press the paper to the glass to help adhere it.
4. Place a BATTERY operated votive inside the jar. YOU MUST use BATTERY operated as a real votive will light the paper on fire.
5. Finish by tying some yarn or string around the mouth of the jar. You can now display your beautiful votive holder.
