Peppa Pig and the Christmas Play
As Peppa’s school class prepares for a Christmas play, they hope that Santa will be able to show up. Peppa is going to be a Christmas fairy. Wendy Wolf is going to be an elf and Suzy Sheep is going to be the Christmas nurse. Peppa knows Santa is very busy, but she hopes he’ll come to watch the play.

The Little Snowplow Wishes for Snow
Everyday the little snowplow goes to work on the Mighty Mountain Road Crew. He loves working with the road crew but he enjoys plowing snow more than everything. As the weather turns colder, the little snowplow watches for snow. Surely it will snow before his birthday. He can’t imagine not having snow on his special day.
Maisy’s Christmas Party
Maisy is planning a Christmas party. All her friends are excited to be invited as Maisy has the most wonderful parties. There are games to play, lots of fun stories, and wonderful treats to eat! After the party, Maisy’s friends send her sweet thank you notes along with little trinkets. Maisy wants to share some of her little trinkets with readers. As you read the story, flip open the envelope pockets to find an ornament, a gingerbread recipe, a book of jokes, a small advent calendar, a puzzle, and a Christmas card from Maisy!
Dasher
Dasher spends her days in a traveling circus with her family. The days are long and the weather is hot. She dreams of living where her hooves can carry her over the snow. One day she takes off to make her dream come true. Along her journey, she meets a nice man in a red suit driving a horse-drawn sleigh. His name was Santa. Readers will enjoy learning about how Christmas was never the same.
Around the Table That Grandad Built
This is a different take on the classic story “This Is the House That Jack Built”. In this story, the family gathers with all their friends and neighbors to share a meal. What makes this gathering special is all the decorations and food have special meaning to those at the table.
The napkins were made by Mom, the drinking glasses were from Mom and Dad’s wedding, and the silverware had been given to Dad by his grandma long ago. For the food, the squash came from the garden, the bread was freshly baked by Gran, and the pies made by the young narrator (with a little help). This story is about celebrating how we should come together with our bounty and gratitude. Friends and family need to join together not just on holidays, but everyday.

My Thoughts:
Curling up and reading stories with my little ones is a favorite way to spend time with them. We do have our standard holiday stories that have been read for decades, but each year I try to pick up several new titles to add to our list.

This year we have added the above books to our collection. Each of these is special in its own way and I am sure my little ones will love them all. If you are looking to add new titles to your holiday reading list, add these Candlewick Press titles to your holiday reading list
