If you love dogs, you will want to add these wonderful books to your Christmas list. W. Bruce Cameron captivates older kids and adults with his A Dog’s Promise, from A Dog’s Purpose series. Plus there are also great Puppy Tales books for younger readers in middle school. Any one of these books would make a wonderful engaging gift for children and adults alike. Maybe you can inspire someone who does not like to read with these books that are told from the dog’s perspective. The manner in which they are written is fun and unique, so you will not want to put the books down until you are through!
About W. Bruce Cameron
W. Bruce Cameron is the New York Times bestselling author of A Dog’s Purpose series, as well as 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and The Dog Master. He lives in California and was named Columnist of the year by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists in 2011. Just last month W. Bruce Cameron had the third installation of A Dog’s Purpose come out, as well as a new book from his Puppy Tales line of books.
A Dog’s Promise
The third book in A Dog’s Purpose is A Dog’s Promise. In this book Bailey is back, with another special dog, Lacey to fulfill a promise he made, over the course of several lifetimes. Bailey began his journey in A Dog’s Purpose where he was reincarnated over and over again to fulfill his purpose to his boy. Then in A Dog’s Journey he gets a new purpose, to look after CJ his beloved owner’s granddaughter. Now he is back and this wise, charming canine soul repairs a family that is struggling due to life’s inevitable obstacles. He fills their home with joy, laughter, and comfort proving how incredible the love, loyalty, and devotion of a dog truly is.
Mom’s Thoughts
Both of the first two A Dog’s Purpose books were made into major motion pictures, and they look really good. I will finish reading the books first though because there is always so much more detail in a book. Movies will never convey the same level of emotion that the written word can achieve! Once I have read the books, I will be happy to watch Bailey go through his adventures, and then I will hope to see A Dog’s Promise made into a movie as well.
I am partway through A Dog’s Promise, and it is a really great book. I know the gist of the other books, but you really only need to know the very basics to be able to pick up this book. Bailey is back and he is starting life over from a little puppy. He has a home and has found his boy. I am enjoying the book through the dog’s point of view which is cute and entertaining. It really makes me think about my pups and how they may be seeing the things their people do. W.Bruce Cameron’s books also are allowing me to think about how precious and brief dog lives really are. I appreciate my three dogs so much more because of these books.
Puppy Tales Books
I am happy to say these Puppy Tales books are having a positive impact on children who did not enjoy reading. These kids who have grown up with screens at their beck and call, are now reading because of these adorable stories about dogs by W. Bruce Cameron. Educators around the world are saying these books have inspired their students to fall in love with reading.
Lily’s Story
Lily’s Story is the newest book in the Puppy Tales line. It is a heartwarming story of a little Pitbull puppy in the shelter. Lily has a special gift to calm and help other animals. You will be right there with her as she finds her girl, and then proves her worth to those around her. I read the book in a few days, and I could not put it down. I really had to know how Lily’s tale turned out. Now my daughter is in the middle of it, and she is loving Lily and her story.
Mom’s Thoughts
There are several Puppy Tales books including: Lily’s Story, Toby’s Story, Ellie’s Story, Molly’s Story, Bailey’s Story, and Shelby’s Story. All of these heartwarming tales follow a puppy on their adventure known as life. They find their special person, and then of course their purpose. These books are the perfect Christmas gift for all the kids on my list. They will get kids reading and allow them to see the dogs in our lives in a new light. It may inspire them to focus more on their pets, to adopt a pet in need, or to go into a career later that revolves around pets. My daughter adores dogs and already has a heart to rescue whenever we can. At the moment we have three dogs, but if that changes we will most likely rescue another dog. We love Pits, and it was so wonderful to see Lily represented as a gentle animal. They are often misrepresented in today’s world.
