DIY Decorating is not for me!
OK, so I do need an interior designer to help create a cozy, warm, uncluttered yet kid and pet friendly environment in my house. I can pick out colors that I like, pieces of furniture that I long for, even carpeting and throw rugs. But that doesn’t mean that my efforts make my house look like a home.
Why would I use interior designers in my home? I know that they are expensive and they seem to invade your space. But the benefits far out number the feeling of losing your privacy until your project is complete.
- If you are moving, most interior design companies will do home staging. They make your home look like a featured home on HGTV’s House Hunters Vacation homes.
- DIY projects that actually look good can be found on most interior design websites. They not only have instructions but color pics to go with them.
- Resources galore! Who else would know the best tile to buy in your area? Who has personal contacts with every painting team in their area? An interior designer will have more contacts and resources that you can shake a stick at.
- Idea books and photos: This is my favorite part! I love to oooh and awww over beautiful rooms, spacious houses with a cozy, uncluttered look that still says home. Colors, patterns, furniture, so many ideas in one place!
- An interior designer can make each room look like it belongs in your house. Have you ever re-done a room in your house only to find that it looks nothing like the rest of your house?
So, live a little, learn a little and bring some design into your home!
