Dog-Inspired Nutter Butter Cookies

Nutter Butter cookies are a favorite for many – kids and adults alike. But, what if you can make them as much fun as they are delicious? Well, you can! Just take a look at these adorable Dog-Inspired Nutter Butter Cookies! Squeal! They are almost, notice I said “almost”, too cute to eat! Please note these adorable treats are for the humans NOT the doggies as they cannot have chocolate 🙂

Makes 5

Ingredients:

Dog-Inspired Nutter Butter Cookies supplies needed
1/4 cup yellow melting chocolates
1/4 cup brown melting chocolates
3 tbsp black melting chocolates
1/4 tsp coconut oil
candy eyes
*any colors can be created using a base white melting chocolate and blending in a tiny amount of coloring (must be chocolate coloring)

Additional items needed:

ramekins and pan for double boiler set up
piping cones
chocolate dipping wand or fork
wire cooling rack
parchment paper
toothpicks

Instructions:

Set up double boiler with shallow pan and ramekins for each color chocolate. Fill with water till half way up side of ramekins *careful not to get water inside them as it will seize the chocolate. Turn heat to medium low.

Add chocolates and smidge of coconut oil to each, stirring to combine as they melt. *Create variations in the brown color by adding 1 chocolate piece to white or black to lighten or darken.

Using wand or fork, dip nutter butter cookies in yellow or brown chocolate until thoroughly coated. Hover above dish as chocolate drips off.

Set on wire rack to harden.

To create the ears, tear a strip of parchment paper. Place a nutter butter on the paper and hand draw ears with a pencil.

Fill pencil drawings with chocolate by using a piping bag or forming with a toothpick. *make extra and put in refrigerator to harden.

Add eyes by dipping a toothpick into the base color chocolate (brown or yellow) and placing a dot on the face where the eyes will be, quickly place candy eyes.

Attach ears by dabbing toothpick in brown or yellow chocolate and use as a glue.

Set to dry and harden.

Store in airtight container.
