December’s Box Theme: Winter Warmth:
Living in New England, the December Box is useful at least 5 months out of the year! You can never have too many warm socks, beanie hats and portable chargers/hand warmers. We lose power a lot during those winter months. Wearing layers, hats, and warm socks gets us through the coldest nights with only our fireplace. One thing I didn’t know existed was the Rechargeable Handwarmer and Powerbank made by Survival Frog. It is USB rechargeable and fast heating up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. AND it can be used to charge your phone at the same time! Genius invention!
The Turbo Beanie by Nomadik is my hubby’s favorite item in the box. He has worn it several times to plow the driveway on his tractor. It’s so warm and comfortable, half the time he forgets to take it off when he comes in.
The Nomadik Challenge:
The winter box challenge had to do with your holiday spirit. It asked us to: “Go on your next adventure and snap a photo of you or your group adventuring in your festive outfits. A box or a product needs to be in the photo. Then upload it to Instagram, tag Nomadik and use #nomadikchallnege20.”

January’s Box Theme: Unstoppable Explorer:
January’s theme is all about being prepared for anything, whether you are hiking, camping or just surviving in the harsh New England weather! My hubby has always been one to plan for the worst but hope for the best. He has always made sure I have a “survival bag” in my Jeep, just in case I end up in a snowbank and no one can find me. I actually put the Pocket stove from Esbit into my survival bag. He thought it would be a great addition to my bag.
Hubby’s favorite product in this box is the EarthPak 10L Torrent Dry Bag. He used to do lots of boating when we lived in Florida so he knows how important dry bags are. After I took some pictures of the January gear, it has disappeared into his office, among all the other important items he has collected. The most useful everyday product for him is the EarthPak Waterproof Phone Case. He’s the only one in the family that has ruined a few phones by getting them wet, running them through the washer or losing it at the lake. His phone fits in the case perfectly and it has a lanyard that he can use to attach to his person so he doesn’t lose it.
The Nomadik Challenge:
The Challenge for this box is to see how is the most prepared to take on the harshest elements. “We want to inspire people to keep trekking even if the conditions aren’t ideal. Being prepared is the smart and safe way to get outside and explore.” They ask for a flay lay phot of your gear kit for your next trip. Here’s a fun tip I never thought of:
Cold nights can be brutal and also dehydrate you. Drink lots of water before bed. Flip your water bottle to prevent no access in the morning- water freezes from the top, so the bottom will freeze instead!
