Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies

What’s better than Chocolate Chip Cookies?

Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies of course!

If you need a great recipe for a Cookie Swap or just to delight your family, be sure to save this one!  They are a huge hit in my house!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 C + 1 TBSP flour
1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
3/4 C packed brown sugar
1/4 C sugar
1 large egg
1 TBSP whole milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 TBSP red food coloring
1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 C mini chocolate chips

Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies

Directions:

Makes 2 dozen cookies!

In a large bowl whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.

Using an electric mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, sugar until creamy and fluffy

Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

Add the food coloring and beat until combined. Turn the mixer off and add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

Slowly beat with the mixer on low until a very soft dough is formed.

Fold in the chocolate chips. Dough will be sticky.

With the dough in the bowl cover it tightly with plastic wrap chilling it for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.

Using a small ice cream scooper, scoop out some dough and roll it into a ball.

Place the mini chocolate chips into a bowl. Dip the top of the cookie dough ball into the mini chocolate chips, only coating half of the dough

Place onto a cookie sheet and lightly press down.

Red Velvet Cookies

 

Repeat steps for 11 more cookies, you can only bake 12 cookies at a time on a cookie sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool completely!
