Be Prepared for Emergencies with a Family Go Bag #MEGAChristmas18

November 29, 2018 by Sherryl Wilson

They say that being prepared is half the battle. If this is true, then being prepared for emergencies with a family go bag will make those times of emergencies easier to handle. Dealing with major emergencies is stressful enough. Rescue Guard survival bags allow you to focus on the most important thing..your family.

Rescue Guard Survival Kits

When an emergency happens, being prepared is the best way to make sure you and your family are able to survive until help arrives. And chances are you will be facing not just a power outage, but possibly be stranded and without running water. While emergency personnel will get to you, it does take time and depending on the emergency, local services may not be able to respond for days.

Rescue Guard offers complete Emergency Go Bags. Each bag is packaged based on the number of people and the number of days you will need to have backup food, water, shelter and fire. Everything you need for survival is tucked away in one convenient backpack.

My Thoughts:

My family have been in and out of the prepper mindset for decades. There have been times when we spent a good amount of time and energy preparing for emergencies. Other times we have enjoyed the stockpiles of food and products when we needed to free cash for other purposes or if a financial emergency came up in our life.

The one thing we have always made sure that we had ready to go was a family Go Bag. According to the American Red Cross, families should be prepared by having a 3-day supply should evacuation be necessary and a 2-week supply if they are required to shelter in place.

Preparing a Family Go Bag used to be difficult. Thankfully, you can now purchase a ready to use bag so you are prepared quickly. Rescue Guard offers a basic, an intermediate, and an advance survival kit. These kits are based on the number of people in your family and the type of gear you want in the kit.

In addition to a basic kit, other items need to be included such as medications (7-day supply is recommended), sanitation and personal hygiene items, copies of personal documents including medication list and medical information, proof of address, deed/lease to home, passports, birth certificates, and insurance policies, cell phone with additional chargers, family and emergency contact information, and extra cash.

For our basic Go Bag Survival Kit we use the Intermediate Level Kit from Rescue Guard. It has everything for immediate survival for our family for three (3) days should we have to leave our home quickly. For our additional items, we keep everything in a backpack so that we can grab both bags and hit the door. Both of these bags are the first thing we load in the car when we head off on vacation too. Over the years we have had more things happen to us while traveling and being prepared really takes some of the stress off the situation.

This holiday season would be a great time to put together your family emergency go bags and Rescue Guard bags will cover the majority of the items on your immediate list so you can focus on gathering the other items that are personal to your family.
