Nancy loves all things girly and fancy, including speaking French words on occasion and explaining their meaning to the viewers at home. Nancy loves all things that are fancy and her elaborate wardrobe and vocabulary reflect it. She encourages her friends to just as fancy. The story line in each show is based on family and understanding that we are all different in our own ways.

“Bonjour! That’s fancy for Hello!”
This has become a quickly quoted phrase in my household. Even the adults pretend to be Nancy when someone does or says something we deem “fancy” like use a big word or do something special! We’ve even increased our French vocabulary skills because of the Fancy Nancy shows we’ve watched. I can admit it; I’ll need those words when we go to Paris eventually.
When I said that my kid loves Nancy, I’m not exaggerating at all! She has PJs, a purse, bed sheets, you name it and she probably owns it. But I was able to find a few new things with Shop Disney that she doesn’t have just yet. And these are making great gifts for Christmas!
The Fancy Nancy canteen is perfect for our princess. It has a button you press to flip the lid open, revealing the top of the drinking straw which folds back down when you close the top. It features both Fancy Nancy and her best friend, Bree, on the bottle. There’s an adjustable wrist strap to keep it close when she’s running around and it holds about 12 ounces. It does need to be hand washed, so I try to get that done before bed so it’s ready to go first thing in the morning. She can even have a “tea party on the go”, at least pretending, when she carefully sips from the straw and asks you if you’d like some tea. It’s adorable.
Inside her purse, she keeps the entire Fancy Nancy figure play set. That way she can break them out and play no matter where we go! They aren’t too big that she can’t haul them around easily, and it includes 6 different characters from the series, including Frenchy the dog! She does all the voices, makes up stories, and will even share on occasion so we can play with her too. I love the detailed outfits they’re wearing and if you save the packaging, you can even have Nancy’s bedroom scene as a backdrop!
As the weather turns colder and we aren’t able to play outside as much as we’re used to, Miss Allie likes to put on her new Fancy Nancy DVD and set up all her things on the coffee table. First we make sure the canteen is filled up with her chosen drink, and then she sets up the figures from the play set like they are going to watch the shows with her. Next, she puts the Fancy Nancy butterfly boa carefully around her neck, adjusting it until it’s perfect. Y’all, she’s even named the butterflies on the boa! It’s serious. Finally, she gets the Fancy Nancy plush doll out and she sits in Allie’s lap while the show starts. The doll has beautiful trimming like a satin bow and ribbon trim. Plus she has this adorable little crown on her head and striped tights under the dress! Now everything is ready, we have to be (mostly) quiet, and she watches the episodes one by one. Sometimes she’ll rearrange the figures to act out a scene she likes, or ask for a refill of “tea” in her canteen, but after the shows are over, playtime begins. We take turns with the dolls (except for Nancy, that’s only for Allie) and wearing the faux-fur boa. At the end of the day, she’s thrilled to have gotten time for Fancy Nancy and some creative interaction from her mom, siblings, and other friends and family members who may be present.
