Taking Your Kids to Disney World? Read These Tips and Secrets

November 25, 2018 by Pam Maynard

There’s no doubt that your children at some point will want to travel. And at one point or other, just about every child has begged to go to Disney World. Once you’ve decided to make that dream a reality, you should set aside a little time to plan the most magical trip possible. Here are a few tips to keep in mind for making the most of this classic theme-park vacation.

FastPass Rules

Do not be deterred by the complexities of the FastPass system. This innovative way of reducing your time spent in line is worth the effort to figure out how to best leverage its power. In addition to the classic FastPass system, which allows ride reservations to be made once you arrive at the park, the FastPass+ enables guests the opportunity to make reservations online a full 30 days before the beginning of their vacation. Those staying onsite at one of the Disney-owned and -operated resorts can take advantage of the advance booking up to 60 days in advance.

Character Dining

If you have young children in your party, you will most likely want to book a character meal or two. Disney offers a wide array of character dining experiences, including eating in the castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table or getting wild with Mickey Mouse and all of his friends at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort. Whatever your child’s food or character fancy might be, Disney has them covered. Advanced dining reservations can be made up to six months in advance. The most popular spots book up quickly, so don’t delay in securing your reservations.

Prioritize Kids Attractions

When traveling with children, be sure to prioritize the attractions that will mean the most to them. Toy Story Land is one of the best places for kids in Hollywood Studios because of the latest rides, such as the Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster and Alien Swirling Saucers. The attractions in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom are a perennial favorite among the younger set. Kids will also love exploring the Kidcot section in World Showcase in Epcot or the various animal trails at the Animal Kingdom. Many of Disney World’s rides are geared toward the younger age group with very few height restrictions put in place.

Although the planning process can seem overwhelming at first because of all details to remember, it is well-worth the time and effort invested when you realize how magical a Disney World vacation can truly be.
