Since my children love to play games, I thought I would give them the chance to make the game themselves with Circuit Games from Klutz Maker Lab. Circuit Games

Mom’s Thoughts
I love the entire premise of Circuit Games! It is a very cool kit that enables my children to work hands on with circuits and how they behave. The book taught about different types of circuits and had lots of tips for the kids along the way, as they built their games. They were able to use copper tape to complete circuits and get the power from the battery pack to other components. In a few games there was a buzzer to get working, while in others it was LED lights. The kids would began to make a game, and after they were done, it wouldn’t work. This was a great way for them to dig deeper and figure out why it failed and how to fix it. I had to help navigate some of the issues, but they learned about circuits. After a few tries they were able to get all the games to work.
BuzzBot
For this game my daughter and I ran copper tape all along a sheet of cardboard that was pre-marked. Then the buzzer, LED and battery pack were wired in, and the BuzzBot game top was put on. Then we got to play operation with a pair of tweezers. Every time we hit the copper tape the light and buzzer went on. Plus we could play the game over and over. Making the game was just as much fun as playing it!
Feed the Shark
In this game you make a ramp that has a hungry shark at the end. You flick coins into his mouth and try to get them into the bin behind the mouth. If they make it in right, the LED lights up. The coin will hit a copper tape that runs from the bin up to the LED light. My son made the bin upside down, so we had to redo that part to get it to catch coins.
Flashlight
My daughter made a quick and easy flashlight with an LED, Popsicle stick, copper tape, paper clip, and the battery pack. She was very proud of her Flashlight and how quick she was able to make it. The battery pack clips on easily to each of the games and the flashlight so you can go back and forth between them all.
Quiz Show
This one is my favorite because it can be used with some of the home-school lessons that I teach. On the card there are two columns of 5 brads. Behind the card there are wires that run from one to another in a random order. When you match an item from one column to the correct answer in the other column, the LED lights up. You can put any items you want to match so for young children it could be animals and their sounds. Plus you could use it to help memorize math facts, or states and their capitals. I put famous poets and one of their poems to match. This was a great review for our Literature studies this last unit.
Space Loop
This game was fun and fairly simple to execute. The hardest part was bending the wire just right, so my husband did that. Then it was time to attach the buzzer and battery pack. Once it was all together it was fun to try and move a wire all along the main loop without hitting the main wire. Any time the two wires hit, the buzzer sounds! You can time yourself and challenge a friend to beat your time.
