Magnets Attract Learning and Fun with Geomagworld #MEGAChristmas18

October 18, 2018 by Sherryl Wilson

Have you ever watched the kids play with magnets? Whether it’s the colorful letters and numbers when they are just starting to learn the alphabet, chip clips on the fridge they move around all day long, or even a stack of magnets they push around, making them flip and slide around, magnets are usually a hit with any child. And we know that even in today’s busy world, magnets are used both in our daily lives and even in outer space! For this upcoming holiday season, what if you could give the kids in your life a toy that’s not only fun but also teaches them skills? Learn how magnets attract learning and fun with Geomagworld!
Magnets Attract Learning and Fun with Geomag

About Geomagworld

In 1998 we invented the first magnetic construction toy. Simple elements such as magnetic rods and steel spheres, connected by a magical force of attraction, continue to allow people to build incredible structures. Over the years millions of people have played with our products and we’ve realized that magnetism is only one of the invisible forces that help bring our Geomagworld platforms to life. Imagination, intelligence, the human mind, magnetism and gravity are all energies that can’t be seen but that make our play experience happen in a fun and educational way.

Our company and our products are also based on SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. Among the various activities that promote this value we point out a project that gives the prisoners of Lugano the opportunity to undertake a path that allows, through our products, their progressive integration in the workplace.

Learning by playing: most of our products are certainly qualified in the STEM category which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, an interdisciplinary approach to learning through which adults and children apply these subjects to their daily life. Geometric structures, magnetism, gravity and moving mechanisms offer infinite possibilities of construction and stimulate a particular scientific and technological way of thinking, naturally bringing children and youngsters closer to the world of science and technology. These peculiarities present in our platforms allow people to use their imagination to find unique solutions to different problems and also facilitate the development of eye-hand coordination that evolves simultaneously with spatial and cognitive skills.

Products:

  • Gravity Motor – Build a motor that operates with the power of gravity and magnets! Follow the included instructions and watch in amazement as the silver balls spin and turn, taking a ride down a spiral slide before getting picked up and tossed back in the tube for another round.
  • Gravity Magnetic Track – Build one of two tracks with the included instructions and watch your magnetic cannon shoot the balls around the track! If you miss the shot, the balls falls into a pit until you’re ready to try again. Hours of fun to be had with this set.

My Review

My son loves to play with toys, especially with kits that you have a lot of pieces to build with, and even design your own track or building. When I showed him the sets from Geomagworld, his eyes lit up and we got started right away. We went with the Gravity Magnetic Track first; we opened the kit and made sure all the pieces were there according to the visual list on the back of the box. Then we browsed through the booklet and decided which track he wanted to build first and followed the instructions. It was a little tricky at first, to figure out exactly how pieces snapped together or which way to turn the slides, but once we got it worked out, it was smooth sailing after that.

We got the track all set up and started the silver balls rolling. This set has a magnetic cannon that shoots them back through the track to race around again. If you get your timing right, you can flip the gatekeeper piece back into place so each ball coming after the first one will keep going and get fired with the cannon! If not, they roll to the side and remain contained in a pit, kept inside by a magnetic stick with a low hanging silver ball to keep the others from escaping. Then after a while, we took it down and built the other version and he played with it for hours. It was easy to break down and we simply kept all the pieces in a large plastic bag with the booklet so we didn’t lose anything.

Then, since the other kit, the Gravity Motor, seemed a little more intensive, I let my son and his father put it together the next Saturday. They sat at the kitchen table, made sure they had all the parts and started looking at the booklet to form a game plan. I loved listening to them talk about the steps, if another way would work better, why the magnets worked with gravity, etc. And this discussion went on and on as they built the motor from the included parts. Not only was it a great way for them to spend a dreary Saturday, but my son also got to learn more about the theory and mechanics of magnets, gravity, physics, and more.

As a mom, I love it when my child can learn as he plays and uses his imagination. Whether he’s playing with blocks, designing a fantasy city in the clouds, or using action figures to play out his latest adventure, it’s a great way to combine playing and learning. These types of toys from Geomagworld make the perfect gift, whether for a birthday, for the holidays, or even to provide to a local school to use in their classrooms. You can be sure that magnets attract learning and fun with Geomag!
