Prehistoric Dinosaurs and Sleek Sharks For You #MDRsummerfun

June 29, 2018 by Misty Stephens

With the new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom out in theaters, Dinosaurs are roaring back as a top toy for kids.  After watching the movie, I myself wanted a pet dinosaur, so I understand the draw.  Here you can see some great dinosaurs to bring home to your children.  There are cuddly plush toys, as well as interactive kits for them to do.  Plus catch some cool sharks too, since Shark Week is coming up on July 22nd.   You can beat the rush and grab some neat plush sharks and a shark tail blanket, so you are prepared for Discovery channel’s 30 year of Shark Week.

Archaeological Fun

Your children can become archaeologists and use a chisel to hunt for the elusive Tyrannosaurus Rex, or dig out a baby T. Rex from its fossilized egg.  Thames and Kosmos allows the kids to excavate dinosaur fossils all by themselves.  There is a soft plaster block that surrounds the skeleton relief, and you can dig it out with excavation tools.  If a fossil dig is not your speed you can grab a cuddly T-Rex from Wild Republic and have a very soft friend that can eat anything that tries to bother you.

Sparkly Jurassic Friends

Wild Republic’s Glitter Dinosaurs are beautiful beasts with rainbow chrome glitter prints on their bodies.  The print gives them a nifty holographic look, and makes a fierce beast a child’s best friend.  You can collect a T-Rex, Velociraptor, triceratops, diplodocus, and stegosaurus.  The dinos come in three different sizes and the large T-Rex and Velociraptor come with plastic teeth.  I like how these shinny toys are firm enough to stand up on their own, but still soft enough to snuggle with.  My daughter has her sparkly T-Rex on her bed keeping guard of her through the night.

Dinosaurs are not the only predators you need to watch out for because it is almost…..

Fierce Sharks

Here my son is watching TV while hanging out with this Fierce Living Ocean Shark from Wild Republic.  This Zebra Shark is from a new line of ultra-realistic plush toys.  A method of printing on fabric allows them to achieve realistic designs and life-like colors.  They are highly detailed and very soft as well.

These life like sharks will appeal to girls and boys both young and old.  It would look awesome just on display on a counter or cuddled tight in a child’s arms.  You can work on a full collection which includes a Hammerhead, Great White, Tiger, Bamboo, Leopard, and Zebra Shark.  In addition to a great toy, you can use these as an educational item and tell your kids all about the shark species you get.

Cuddlekins

The top two sharks in this fishy pile are Wild Republic’s Cuddlekins.  This line is specially designed to look just like the real shark while still being ultra soft and cuddly.  These predators of the sea are made to snuggle with and to love.  They come in Blacktip sharks, Great White, Hammerhead, Tiger, and Mako Sharks.  In addition to awesome sharks this line of plush span many collections like African, Asian Mountain, Prehistoric, Polar, Aquatic, and Rainforest.  I love the stripes on our Tiger Shark, and his double row of teeth.  Another great chance for an education moment about how shark teeth constantly are replaced.

These sharks are so soft and cuddly so make excellent gifts for children off all ages.  Plus most kids seem to really like sharks and dinosaurs, and be fascinated by them.  Therefore they will be a big hit whether you give them for birthdays, holidays, or just because.  Plus I have seen Wild Republic brand toys at zoos and science museums near me.  What a great keepsake after the zoo or aquarium to get a plush of the creatures the kids got to see in real life.  All of this helps to instill a love for animals in the next generation.

Shark Tail Blanket

Last but not least, your kids can make their own Knot-A Shark blanket.  This blanket by Alex Brands is an adorable, cool DIY craft that is a functional blanket once it is done.  My daughter was so excited when I handed her this box.  We spent a couple hours happily making this fleece blanket together.  It came with everything that was needed to create this shark tail blanket.  You stitch the felt eyes together, then stitch them, nostrils, teeth, and gills to the fleece.  Then you knot the fleece together and then knot the tail and fins on.

Next thing you know you are being eaten by a snuggly, predator. It is recommended for ages 8+.  I know my daughter could have made it all by herself, but we had a lot of fun doing it side by side.  Now she has a soft blanket, and a warm memory of when we made it together.
