DIY- Make your Own Pastel Pull String Party Pinata

June 17, 2018 by Pam Maynard

Kids Love Pinatas!!! Here’s how to make your own!

Do you kids love Pinatas? Tired of buying those huge, expensive and dangerous ones that you have to beat with a bat to crack open? Now you can make your own with only a few supplies! They are so easy, you can make a few so more than one kid can open one!

  • Teal, light purple, pink and yellow tissue gift wrap paper
  • Glue gun
  • Scissors

  • Razor or exacto knife
  • Small candies and confetti for inside the pinatas (Can also use money, toys, etc.)

Step 5. Take all the sets of tissue paper and set aside two of each color. Take all the others and fold them in half the long way. Use the scissors to make small cuts across the edge of the tissue (as shown). Use two strips of each color when wrapping them around the toilet paper roll.

Step 6. Use the glue gun to secure a yellow strip to the bottom of the toilet paper tube (on the end that is covered with the tissue paper). Make sure that the bottom fringe of the tissue is even with the bottom edge.

Step 7. Add a strip of pink high enough so that at least half of the yellow is showing.

Step 8. Do the same with a strip of teal and a strip of purple.

Step 9. For the last strip on the top, put a strip of glue around the top of the toilet paper roll and attach a yellow strip right where the top of the cuts end so that some of the paper sticks up over the top. Fold this paper down into the tube.

Step 10. Cut a length of ribbon about 18 inches long. Thread the ends through the slits in the bottom of the tube. Pull the ends through the top and tie them in a knot. Pull the ribbon back down the bottom being very careful to not tear the paper.

Step 11. Fill with the tube with confetti, candies, tiny toys, money, etc. My son loves LEGO minifigures and M&Ms!

Step 12. Use the extra papers to stuff the top of the pinata.

That’s it you’re done!  Hang it up for your party or other fun occasion and have the kids pull the string to break open the Pinata!
