My Thoughts:
I think the fidget tools are amazing! Having several of our crew diagnosed with ADD and ADHD, I understand how hard it is for them to sit still and stay focused. Back before these fidget devices were available, we tried everything from physical activity or music playing while reading to having one son rock his head back and forth when he was trying to focus. He still rocks when deep in thought and will twist his wedding ring as soon as something is starting to distract him.
Knowing how hard it is for them to be still, especially in a class room setting or when in a situation that might make them nervous; these devices seem to occupy an area of the brain that needs the distraction of the hands so the brain can narrow down to focus. I like that they are quiet and are not distracting to others around us.
We also have sports fans and players that keep our family running. My guys fell in love with the light up basketball, soccer ball and the bat. They play ball in any room where they can close the blinds during the day and are asking to go outside for a pickup game as soon as it is dark. I will say that they have played for hours instead of reaching for the remote or one of their devices!
