5 Great Tips to Moving Your Family in 2018

May 16, 2018 by Pam Maynard

Moving is incredibly stressful for anyone, especially families. If you plan on moving any time soon, consider these tips to make it easier!

Prepare As Soon As You Can

As soon as you have an idea about moving, you should start preparing for the move. There are so many parts involved with figuring out the right way to move that you need to make sure you’re ready for it. If you know ahead of time what you need to do to make the move happen, it’ll go smoother.

5 Great Tips to Moving Your Family in 2018

Find a Great Moving Company

The right moving company is the difference in a dream move and a nightmare move. If you try these guys out, you can really see the difference in a good moving company and a shoddy one. The right company will know just what you need to make your move the best it can be.

Don’t Forget to Pack Your Overnight Bag

Always pack an overnight bag so you’re prepared while you’re moving. Pack the necessities like a change of clothes and toiletries. Make sure your bag is packed according to how many nights you’ll actually be moving. Also, consider the first night in your new home because the last thing you probably want to do is unpack everything just to find your pajamas.

Think about Your Kids

The key to an easy move with kids is making sure you put their feelings first. If you’re making a long move, try to limit your time on the road to about eight hours a day or you’ll end up with cranky kiddos. Also, make sure there are plenty of things to do. From the car ride to your new home to the actual unpacking process, kids can get bored. It can be hard for kids to pitch in and help during a move so this may be a perfect situation for unlimited screen time. They’ll thank “ya” for it!

5 Great Tips to Moving Your Family in 2018

Try to Avoid Summer

Summertime is a great time to move and that’s exactly why you want to avoid it. Most people move in the summer so you’ll have heavier traffic, higher costs and you’ll be hot if something breaks down or doesn’t work. Consider moving in the fall or spring where weather won’t negatively affect your move.

Your move doesn’t have to be stressful. If you prepare for an easy move, everything will go better while you’re actually moving.
