I took a trip to Hawaii last year, and it was the first time that I had heard of “reef-safe” sunscreen. In Hawaii, they are very strict about which types of sunscreen are allowed in the ocean. So, I was happy to learn that the Eat My Face mineral sunscreen is “reef-safe”. This means that it contains no chemical fillers and is made with non-nano zinc oxide. Using reef-safe sunscreen helps protect both your skin and marine ecosystems. Certain chemical sunscreen ingredients, especially oxybenzone and octinoxate, have been linked to coral bleaching and damage to ocean habitats when swimmers wash them off in the water. Even small amounts can stress coral reefs and affect marine life. With Eat My Face, you do not need to worry!

Eat My Face is a brand I feel great about supporting. Founder Jeff Frese hand-pours every product in small batches right from his kitchen. He doesn’t rely on a factory line or a massive operation. Instead, he makes every product in the USA the same week you order it.

When Jeff created this skincare line, he questioned why people carefully watch what they eat but still cover their skin with harsh chemicals. Since your skin is your body’s largest organ, it absorbs much of what you put on it. That idea led him to use beef tallow in his products. Tallow closely matches the skin’s natural fatty acid profile, so it absorbs deeply and delivers nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and K without synthetic additives.

When I first received the products from Eat My Face, I worried I might smell like beef fat! Thankfully, I quickly discovered that properly rendered, high-quality beef tallow has little to no scent. Instead, the products carry subtle notes of vanilla or the essential oils used in each formula.
