Jambar Organic Energy Bars: The Smart Choice for Hungry Students #Back2school25

August 29, 2025 by Lydia Smith

New Disclosure

Jambar Organic Energy Bars are the perfect addition to lunchboxes as students head back to school. Packed full of nutrition and delicious flavor, kids will love this yummy treat! However, Jambars are not just for kids; with 10 grams of protein, they are a great way to meet anyone’s daily protein goals. They are made with all-natural, high-quality ingredients, certified organic, gluten-free, and grain-based.

For this review, I was sent four of Jambar’s five flavors to try out. All of the Jambar flavors have fun musical names:

  • Musical Mango
  • Jammin Jazzleberry
  • Chocolate Cha Cha
  • Peanut Butter Malt Melody
  • Tropical Trio

On the Jambar website, it is explained that the correlation between composing a musical piece and a food product is ingeniously linked. Both are a compilation of notes, either audible or flavor, an arrangement or structure that provides texture and form, and experiential feelings of nourishment culminating in an emotional response unique to the individual, but part of a community. Like a musical composition, each JAMBAR ingredient has been carefully selected to complement the others and to work as a complete nutritional ensemble.

Combining music and healthy living is at the center of Jambar’s mission. 50% of profits from Jambar’s sales are donated to their music and active living partners. These funds will be provided directly to qualified nonprofits that are doing amazing work in these two fields. Some of the incredible music organizations that have benefited from Jambar’s philanthropy are Bread & Roses, California Jazz Conservatory, Conscious Alliance, and Hungry for Music, among many others. Some of the active living organizations that have benefited are Positive Coaching Alliance, Friends of China Camp, and Access4bikes.

Musical Mango

The Musical Mango bar strikes the perfect chord with a bright blend of mango and hearty whole grains. This bar is vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and delivers 10 grams of plant-based protein. The mango note is subtle, just enough natural sweetness without overpowering the wholesome grains. With 230 calories and 4 grams of fiber per bar, it’s a satisfying snack that fuels your day without feeling heavy.

Jammin Jazzleberry

Jammin Jazzleberry is my favorite of the four bars I was sent. It is a jazzy combo of organic strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and whole grains. It has the right amount of sweetness, and the berry flavor shines right through! In addition, this bar is vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO. It packs in 10 grams of plant-based protein for 235 calories per bar.

Chocolate Cha Cha

The Chocolate Cha Cha bar uses premium Guittard® chocolate, real food ingredients, and organic ancient grains. Its deep chocolate flavor is balanced by the nutty grains. It truly is delicious. This bar is gluten-free, non-GMO, and the Guittard chocolate is certified fair trade. It also has 10 grams of protein and 240 calories per bar. This bar is a wonderful sweet pick-me-up any time of day!

Peanut Butter Malt Melody

The Peanut Butter Malt Melody bar is a delightful quartet of peanut, sesame, malt, and vanilla mixed with whole grains. This bar has the same 10 grams of protein and is non-GMO. It also has 240 calories per bar and is nutty perfection. I love peanut butter, and this is a fantastic twist on a traditional peanut flavor.

A woman eating a Jambar

The founder of Jambar, Jennifer Maxwell, is dedicated to using only the highest-quality ingredients in every bar. She believes in real food, not chemicals, so their ingredients are organic, pure, and natural. They utilize an employee-owned small production plant, allowing them to craft the bars in small batches. They also use eco-conscious suppliers.

Some examples of their high-quality, natural ingredients include:

PROTEINS:

Sunflower Protein: A breakthrough in plant proteins. Peeled sunflower seeds are partially de-fatted and pressed into a powder. An excellent source of protein.

Oat Bran: The outer-most bran layer of the oat grain. High in soluble fiber and antioxidants. Oat bran has been shown to help control blood sugar levels and provide a good source of polyphenols for heart health.

Quinoa: Hailed as a “super food” for good reason. This ancient grain contains all nine essential amino acids. A complete plant-based, gluten-free protein.

Sorghum: An ancient grain rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Gluten-free.

Brown Rice: Rich in fiber, whole grain brown rice delivers protein, vitamins, and minerals

SWEETENERS:

Maple Syrup: Grade A 100% pure Canadian maple syrup. Simply extracted from maple tree sap.

Grape Sugar: 100% grape juice sugar from France. The fruit sugar is extracted from whole grapes with a minimum of processing. Sweetness as nature intended.

Date Juice: Naturally sweet, 100% dates condensed and unrefined. High in potassium.

Berry Concentrates: 100% berry juice from fruit. Concentrated to remove water. High in vitamin C and potassium. No added sugars.

OTHER WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS:

Fruit Extracts and Vanilla Beans: Natural flavors and essences to round out the yumminess!

Cocoa: Fair Trade cocoa powder in its non-alkalized, natural state

Cashew Butter: All the goodness of whole cashews, good fats, fiber, and vitamins and minerals.

Peanut Butter: Just ground peanuts. High in good fats, iron, and a great source of protein.

Sesame Butter: Ground sesame seeds. High in good fats like oleic acid, which has been shown to lower cholesterol. A natural anti-bacterial full of minerals and fiber.

My Thoughts

Jambar Organic Artisan Energy Bars pack serious nutrition and protein into a treat that actually tastes good. They’re soft without being overly chewy, and they hold their shape without crumbling, perfect for tossing into a lunchbox. Parents can feel good about giving them to their kids. At the same time, the high-quality, clean ingredients make them just as appealing for adults (I recommend stashing a few in your desk drawer). Additionally, Jambars have a one-year shelf life, allowing you to stock your pantry and always have a wholesome snack within reach. Finally, beyond the bars themselves, the company’s commitment to philanthropy and giving back makes supporting Jambar even more rewarding. Give them a try, you’ll be glad you did.

Update

The generous folks at Jambar recently sent me their newest flavor, Tropical Trio, which I hadn’t tried when I first reviewed their bars. And wow, I’m so glad they did, because it might just be my new favorite.

If you’re a coconut lover like me, this one’s a dream. It blends coconut with banana and pineapple for a bright, beachy bite that feels like a mini vacation. The bar is made with walnut butter and gluten-free grains, plus it’s non-GMO and vegan, so it’s as wholesome as it is delicious. Thank you, Jambar!!
