Fluff Trough
Fluff Trough is a small company based in Denver, CO and was founded in 2018 by Debra and her pug Pork Chop.
It was inspired by Pork Chop. As a pug, he struggled to eat from traditional feeders because of his flat face and worsening health issues as he got older.
After he was diagnosed with vestibular disease (which causes a loss of balance) he had even more difficulty eating. After searching everywhere for a bowl that would help Pork Chop eat better, Debra created a special bowl for him using her 3D printer.
When she shared the prototype with other pet parents, she was amazed by their excitement about using the feeder for their pets, too!
Elevated Feeding Bowls
There are lots of elevated bowls on the market, but Fluff Trough is like no other bowl I’ve ever seen. The feeding bowl is elevated about 7″ off the floor, available with different feeding inserts, comes in different colors, and has a few different accessories.
First off, the base comes in four different colors including teal, purple, grey, and black. There are several different inserts that can be used with the base including a smooth silicone insert, an insert that slows down fast eaters called a Binge Blocker, a stainless steel insert, and even an attachable licking mat. All of these pieces are dishwasher safe so that cleaning up is easy.
Have a bigger dog? There are non-slip feet that can attach to the Fluff Trough. There are also risers (a lift kit) available to make eating more comfortable for taller dogs. And, there is also an XL size for dogs with bigger appetites.
Fluff Trough Inserts and Accessories
The Binge Blocker insert is a silicone piece that slips right into the Trough. Made from BPA-free materials is food and dishwasher safe. The Binge Blocker can be used with wet, dry or raw food. This insert is made for the pet who needs to slow down when eating so they won’t over eat.
The Stainless Steel Insert is great for any pet, easy to clean and great to have on hand for food/meal prep. Vet-recommended and made from food-safe stainless steel, this insert is safe for cleaning in the dishwasher.
There is an accessory for the Fluff Trough that is pretty neat. The attachable Licking Mat attaches to the standard size dish to provide a safe, ergonomic activity for dogs or cats. Made for snacks like peanut butter and yogurt, this textured mat can distract an anxious pet while they concentrate on their fun snack. This is also a great way to distract a pet during bath time and grooming.
My Thoughts
My beagle, Dany is almost 8 years old, she is overweight, and is a complete joy to have in our family. She does need the Fluff Trough with the Binge Blocker insert. I also love that we have the non-slip feet. She’s a strong dog that will move her bowls around and those non-slip feet are so useful. Because the dish is elevated, Dany doesn’t have to bend down to eat, she can slow down while eating (I worry she eats too fast and it makes her cough), and with the licking mat, she concentrates on a snack while the weather is bad (she doesn’t like thunder).
