A Sticky Christmas Memory:
Ah, Christmas with my Grammy was always a mix of fun, love, and some seriously sticky fingers. My Grammy usually brought popcorn balls for Christmas Eve. One year, we decided to tackle making popcorn balls together.
We gathered around her cozy kitchen, the smell of cinnamon wafting from the stove as she melted butter and marshmallows in a big pot. The popcorn popped away in the background, impatiently waiting to join the sugary, gooey goodness. My Grammy had this magical way of making even the stickiest mess feel like a masterpiece.
After the pot was filled with the sweet, sticky mixture, we all hurried to form the balls before it cooled and hardened. But half the fun was getting our hands all gooey and trying to sneak a taste when Grammy wasn’t looking.
Sure, some of those popcorn balls turned out a bit wonky-shaped, more like blobs than balls, but they were made with love, and that’s what counts, right? And the best part? Eating them while watching old Christmas movies with the whole family, laughing, and sharing stories, sticky fingers and all. That memory’s stuck with me like those marshmallowy popcorn balls – sweet, messy, and utterly heartwarming.
