Step 1

Step 2
Basecoat the top half of the cutting board and the jumbo craft stick with light brown acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Step 3
Basecoat the bottom half of the cutting board with off-white acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Step 4
Measure and mark the jumbo craft stick to 4.5” long with a pencil. Trim the ends of the craft stick with scissors.
Step 5
Dry brush the medium brown acrylic craft paint in a cross-hatch pattern on the scarecrow hat and brim. This will look like burlap. Let dry.
Attach the craft stick hat brim to the scarecrow with a glue gun and glue sticks.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Step 6
Cut an 8-inch section of raffia with scissors, and then cut in half. Tie the top of each bundle of raffia with natural jute twine, securing with a knot.
Step 7
Attach the bundles of raffia to the left and right sides of the scarecrow with a glue gun and glue sticks. Use the hat brim to secure the raffia hair in the back.
Step 8
Download, print, and cut out the scarecrow nose pattern. Trace onto burnt orange craft felt, and cut out with scissors.
Step 9
To create the scarecrow’s face, attach two brown buttons for eyes and the felt nose with a glue gun and glue sticks. Add cheeks by swirling a cotton swab dipped in pink acrylic craft paint.
Step 10
Tie an orange gingham ribbon in a bow attached to the scarecrow’s hat and glue a silk sunflower in the center. To finish, draw a smile from cheek to cheek with a permanent black marker, then create vertical stitches.
