Security is always a concern. If you have kids, it’s even more important. Some people like cameras inside and out of their houses. I have to admit, my kids are grown, but I want that security because you never know when someone will try something underhanded at your home. Abode Security Kit
As far as at-home security systems, the Abode Security Kit is pretty good. Abode lets you build the system you want without all the stuff you don’t. This new smart, wireless kit includes the security hub, a mini sensor for a door or a window, and a handy key fob for you to arm and disarm the system.
With Wi-Fi connectivity, the hub can be placed anywhere in the house. And, this system is so simple to set up. You can do it yourself. There is no wiring or tools needed. You take it out of the box, follow the simple instructions, and viola! Your home is armed and ready to defend.
Included in the starter kit is a mini-sensor. This is a two-piece sensor that fits around a door or window to alert you if and when someone opens it. If you need more than one sensor, they are available on the Abode website.
Other features of this system include a built-in siren to scare off would-be intruders. A battery backup allows the system to stay on even in an electricity outage. And a 4G cellular backup also keeps you connected in the case of internet outages. Did I mention that all of Abode’s products work seamlessly with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and more?
Wireless Video Doorbell
This is my favorite thing ever! The Wireless Video Doorbell is so much fun. I can see who is coming and going. Watching the dogs or kids outside in the front yard is a hoot, especially because it’s like I have eyes on them at all times.
This Video Doorbell from Abode is pretty remarkable. The picture quality is outstanding and I love that. A grainy picture does no one any good. Because there are no wires, I was able to connect this doorbell via Bluetooth. The bell inside the house didn’t even have to be hung up. It’s placed right on top of my wireless router because I wanted it hidden.
Currently, we are renting our home, and even though I knew our landlord wouldn’t care, I didn’t want to drill holes in the side of his house to install it. So, I used adhesive strips to attach the bell to the outside of the house. It wouldn’t stick to the siding, but it does stick to the aluminum screen door.
Here is what you get with the video doorbell:
- A long battery life. When the battery gets low, please remove it from its holder and charge it with the USB cord. Then, simply put it back in the holder outside.
- Night color vision – Yes, you can see outside at night. It’s a really good camera.
- The doorbell has a large button to push and activate. It also is all-weather ready, meaning the weather will not mess this guy up.
- No hard wiring is needed.
- 160 Degree clear picture, person and package detection, and it can be used with other smart home systems.
My Thoughts on Abode
Peace. Peace of mind is what I get having these two products in my home. I love that I get alerted when someone walks in my door and I am happy to be able to monitor my house even when I’m away. I can pull up the doorbell when I’m at work and see who’s been coming and going. When you have teenagers, this is a great feature to have.
The easy installation is another thing I appreciate. I don’t like people in my space so the more I can do around the house to keep workers away, I’ll do it. Because I know what is going on in and outside my home, I have less to worry about. Abode is to thank for that.
