How to Highlight Food Intolerances with The Elimination Diet and Cleanse Your System

October 21, 2022 by Pam Maynard

Look around, and you will realize that most people are following a diet! The objective of the course is to live as healthy as possible. People sometimes wonder whether they have any food intolerance or food allergy, especially when there is bloating right after eating wheat or dairy.

There are times when we commit ourselves to elimination diets that promise to cleanse us from gluten, dairy, or even shellfish and face a bout of triggering symptoms. Soon, we find that the elimination diet is no fun, and we tend to move away from it and keep having food intolerances.

The objective here is to opt-in for a coach who can guide you through the elimination diet correctly so that it yields the required advantages. To know more about this, you can check out Ray of Solace.

Food intolerance vs. food allergy

It would help if you understood the difference between food intolerance and food allergy. Both can have similar symptoms, and they can get mixed up. In case of a food allergy, you will find that the immune system will respond to food.

On the other hand, an intolerance can result in more trouble and insensitivity by digesting the food that causes issues.

There is nothing to self-diagnose or sneeze when it comes to food allergies. For instance, if you have consumed specific foods, you find that your throat gets tightened, you get hives, and you aren’t able to breathe, you need to seek medical help.

Is it beneficial to opt-in for the elimination diet?

Prior to experimenting with an elimination diet, you should know whether you have a food intolerance or allergy for real. The symptoms such as fatigue, constipation, heartburn, headaches, and even trouble swallowing can lead to food intolerance.

At times, the symptoms can become worse after a couple of hours you consume the food. But usually, the timings can make it challenging to decipher whether there is a problem with your system or not.

Doctors can sometimes suggest you opt-in for skin tests and blood tests to check for food allergies. However, once the test gets done, it might take time to make sense of the diagnosis. There are doctors who suggest that a food challenge can affirm food sensitivity.

Your doctor can provide you with a small dose of trigger food to check the symptoms of food allergy or sensitivity. If you have a food intolerance, you might try the elimination diet.

Cut out a set of food from your daily diet for a specific period of time and add it back to check what is causing the adverse reaction. It would help if you got this done under the guidance of an expert allergist.

Implementing the elimination diet

You have to be careful about trying out the elimination diet, as there is a scope that you to deprive yourself of the essential nutrients and become weak. In some people, it can lead to other issues as well.

However, trying the elimination diet in a modified amount might give you the benefits you are seeking. Try and eliminate a handful of foods for a span of 21 days and observe how your body feels. Once you have cleared these foods from your diet, you are expected to feel better. Once you bring the foods back to your daily food chart, you will see how the body reacts.

At times, people find that the addition of the foods has no adverse or no symptoms at all. If you have experienced that, it’s time to move on to the next step. Here you should go ahead and take away the new foods. Keep on doing this until such time-specific foods lead you to symptoms, and then you must work accordingly.

It is not possible to pause the diet at a point or keep on working at it when you find that an increasing number of foods are at fault. However, it would help if you start by eliminating a few of the common offenders.

After that, you should move to the less common ones, which indicates you can know which food is your culprit. Once you have completed each phase, you should get in touch with a doctor.

Check food labels

Make it a point to read the food labels and check whether the packaged goods comprise any ingredients you want from your diet. The forms of dairy, gluten, and various other triggers have a chance to hide in more places than you can think about. Even when you are eating out, make sure to check for the ingredients that get used in your platters.

Finally, most people think that they will feel hungry when they avert a few foods. You always have healthy options, such as healthy fats, vegetables, and fruits, that you can use as your munchies and feel full. It will help you to stay healthy, clean your system and give a boost to your immunity.
