How To Make Your Living Space More Cozy For Autumn

October 11, 2022 by Pam Maynard

The leaves are crunchy, the boots and jackets are out and the evenings are darker. Autumn is here. The living room is a space that comes alive once the sun goes down and the days become cooler, perfect for curling up with a good read or a loved one.

Adding candles, starting a fire, filling a planter with seasonal foliage, or distributing velvety scatter cushions in orange, red, and yellow hues may make your living area warmer for fall. Autumn is all about being cozy and enjoying the home comforts we all know and love.

Fall and autumn decor is becoming more and more popular and as the season comes in full swing people are decorating their homes with the autumn season in mind.

Rugs can be added to hardwood flooring

Place your rug just beneath your sofa’s front legs and entirely under your coffee table. Keep it simple with a solid color or a mild pattern. Choosing a brightly colored abstract rug can completely transform the atmosphere.

Hardwoods and tiled flooring are ideal for the summer. They can feel less comfortable and make rooms appear colder when autumn draws and the temperature decreases. A large woolen rug may provide texture and warmth to your living area.

Switch up the colors of the walls

You may be spending more time at home than normal these days as the evenings get darker and you just want to be snuggled up at home. You may have not noticed that your living room may use a fresh coat of paint to make it feel fresh and new.

A new coat of paint may breathe new life into an otherwise “weary” feeling area, whether for a home décor revamp or to make your living room feel brighter or larger. Having things, clean, neat, and bright will help with the winter blues as well.

Fill your home with soothing aromas

fall candles, pumpkins and sweaters

Let’s face it: fall candles are the greatest around. The pleasant glow of flickering candles makes our houses smell lovely all season. Warm and inviting odors like pumpkin, apple pie, cedar, cinnamon, and many more may be found in the scents.

Put a candle or two in each area, including the kitchen, living room, and hallway; they’ll help lift your mood, but never leave them unattended.

Bring out all of the blankets

You’re a blanket hoarder if you’re anything like me! There can never be too many in a house. If you frequently have visitors, they’re fantastic for extra bedding, and when the evenings start to get cool, they can save you a few pounds as a more eco-friendly alternative to turning on the heating.

So my first recommendation is to gather all of your blankets and scatter them over your living room or bedroom for utmost coziness.

Embrace hygge in your home

The Danish tradition is around creating a sense of joy and coziness through house interiors and lifestyle by making minor but significant adjustments. Layering various materials to evoke thoughts of comfort and calm.

Hygge is the perfect embodiment of autumn as it is all about bringing together loved ones, enjoying the simple things like getting together over a warm and comforting dish that is homemade, snuggling up and reading books, or watching something wholesome.

Home accessories made of natural materials such as wicker, rattan, and wood can offer contrast and are an easy way to bring a sense of serenity and hygge into the home.

Make your Home Cozy for Fall

Plants and flowers can be added to your room

Bring new life into your home with fresh flowers and plants, which can assist to create a sense of calm. You can also seek plants that emit a lot of oxygen, making your home a healthier place to live.

This is an excellent way to reap the advantages of nature if you will be spending more time indoors due to the cold and harsh weather.

Accessories and Furniture

To produce a cozy atmosphere, the furniture and accessories that perform the principal purposes of your living room must be comfortable and welcoming, both to the sight and to the touch. Large recliners or sectional sofas promise a soft and cozy environment in which to unwind.

Choose items that will allow for both good conversation and calm rest. Even small changes like home accessories can make a big difference, things like candles, mirrors, wall hangings, and even a Bay Window Curtain Pole with some beautiful curtains to keep the house warm as well as look cozy and pleasing to the eye.
