Discover the Difference of Nest Designs Baby Sleepers #MegaChristmas22

September 28, 2022 by Missy Tanner

Disclosure Statement for Mom Does Reviews

All baby sleepers are not created the same.  That’s a fact.  What’s the difference, you ask?  I’ve recently discovered that there are different sizes in the thermal overall grade, otherwise known as a TOG. Nest Designs Sleepers come in a variety of different sizes and designs, all with different TOGs.

Nest Sleepers Baby & Papa

NEST Designs

Founded in Vancouver, BC, Nest Designs create products that last.  They are designed for longevity, they also don’t go out of style.  They like classic designs, but with modern sustainability.

Founder, Tammy Lo makes sure the designs are gender neutral with soft palettes.  She also makes sure the designs are modern, stylish and environmentally friendly.  Many of Nest Design products are made out of bamboo and certified organic cotton.  Parents can feel good about putting their babies in clothes from Nest Designs because the clothes are not only cute and comfortable, they are sustainable.

TOGs

What are TOGs and why are they important?  I didn’t know there was a difference before I started researching it.  If the baby was cold, I’d add a clothing layer or find a thicker sleeper for them.  But then I learned about TOGs.

Nest Designs TOG

TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and it is referring to the thickness and warmth of the product.   Being from Florida, the thought of a heavy sleeper scared me because you don’t want your baby to overheat.  But there is something to this TOG thing.

NB Sleeping Baby

Knowing which sleeper has what TOG rating helps when deciding what to dress your little one in for bed.  If it’s warm, you may want a lower rated sleeper, such as a .25.  But when it’s fall in Virginia, you may want a little more warmth for baby and use a 1.0 or 2.5.  Nest Designs has sleepers in many designs and TOG ratings.  You’ll be able to find the perfect sleeper or sleep sack for your baby, regardless of the time of year.

Bamboo Long Sleeve Footed Sleep Bag 0.6 TOG

My sweet grandbaby is four months old.  She lives in sleepers most of the time if she’s at home.  The Long Sleeve Sleeper with a 0.6 TOG rating is perfect for during the day while she’s playing and then going down for naps.

ND .06 TOG Sleeper

These suits are also great for when your baby is transitioning out of a swaddle suit and into a sleeper.  It’s like a wearable blanket, made out of sustainable bamboo blended with muslin.  Overheating won’t be an issue and because it’s roomy and stretchy, baby can move freely whether they are sleeping or playing.

Organic Cotton Long Sleeve Sleep Suit 1.0 TOG

When the seasons change, baby’s sleepers should change.  This sleeper is made with Organic Cotton, has a 1.0 TOG, long sleeves, snaps for diaper changes and will keep baby comfortable while they sleep or play.

ND 1.0 TOG Sleeper

This Organic Cotton Long Sleeve Sleep Suit also has a two-way zipper for easy changing with a flap to keep the top of zipper from irritating baby’s chin and neck.   Comfort is at the top of the NEED list for my grandbaby and I know that Nest Designs also makes that a priority.

Raglan Bamboo Long Sleeve Sleep Suit 2.5 TOG

Soft and plush, this Raglan Bamboo Sleeper with a 2.5 TOG is so incredibly soft.  I know I said soft twice, but it’s understandable with this sleeper.  I want to get one in my size.  It’s like a warm blanket that baby can wear.

ND 2.5 TOG Sleeper

Made with a bamboo blend, wool and a Sorona filling, this suit has foot cuffs designed to fold over baby’s feet to keep them warm.  With a 2.5 TOG, this sleeper is best used in fall and spring weather.

My Thoughts

This is not the first time I’ve sampled baby sleepers from Nest Designs.  When my granddaughter was first born, we used a few of their swaddles and sleepers.  They were always our favorites.  She always feels comfortable and safe in them.  What I didn’t know was that the sleepers can come in different thicknesses.

With these three sleepers, baby girl will feel warm and comfortable year round. I can feel good that the materials used to make these sleepers are sustainable.  Thanks to Nest Designs, I now know about TOGs and will always check them before buying pieces for the baby.
