Ever put much thought into how much waste a baby makes? I never had until my granddaughter was born. She has diapers, wipes, packaging from toys, clothes, bedding and so much more. That list is infinite. Woolybubs is a baby shoe company who thought about waste and how to make sustainable shoes for our little ones.

Woolybubs
I have never thought of a shoe company as sustainable, but Woolybubs has created a wonderful shoe line for babies and toddlers that are environmentally friendly. Their mission is to create planet friendly products to sell directly to customers at affordable prices. It’s a great mission.

Here’s how Woolybubs works: Once your child has outgrown Newbies, they can be put in boiling water and they dissolve, as they are biodegradable.. They can get wet, be put in the washer, worn and be abused, but they won’t dissolve until they are in boiling conditions. Toddles won’t dissolve, but they can be sent back into Woolybubs for recycling.

Currently, Woolybubs has two shoe lines: Toddle and Newbie. Toddles are made with a harder sole and has an adjustable band on the back of them. Newbies are super soft and pliable, made to be your baby’s first pair of shoes.
Newbies
Available in two sizes, 0-6mo and 6-12mo, the Newbie by Woolybubs are designed to be your baby’s first shoe. Babies can crawl and take their first unsteady steps in them. Available in four color combinations, Newbies are super soft and lightweight so your baby will feel comfortable in them.

Once your baby grows out of the Newbies, you can boil them in water for about 30 minutes and the shoes will dissolve into a safe liquid substance. This goes a long way in decreasing your baby’s carbon footprint.
Toddle
Available in nine colors, Toddle shoes support toddlers when they are learning to walk and while they explore their world. Easy to slide on, Toddles have a heel cinch so that they will always fit snug. They come in three sizes: 0-6mo, 6-12mo and 12-18mo.

Toddles are recyclable. When your baby grows out of them, send them back to Woolybubs and they will recycle them for you.
My Thoughts
Babies do have a lot of waste, not that would make me love mine any less. However, it’s nice to see a company like Woolybubs create products that will not only protect our babies but also help with the environment. Since it’s been a while since I had little ones, I asked my daughter-in-law what she looked for in baby shoes. She told me that they had to be cute, had to be practical, must be easy to put on the baby and had no shoe laces. Imagine tying shoes when you have a rolling baby or a busy toddler. She makes great points.

Woolybubs checks off each of those points. They are cute, practical, easy to put on the baby and they don’t have any shoe laces. The shoes just slide on and the baby is ready to go. Wiggling babies won’t know that they even have shoes on. They are designed to be as comfortable as going barefoot. My granddaughter has some little feet and they don’t yet quite fit her completely, but they are so incredibly cute. I can’t wait until she’s able to run around exploring in her little Woolybubs.
