Babies are wonderful. Watching them discover everything from their own hands to their siblings is the best thing ever. However, sometimes mama needs a break and when you have a fussy baby that won’t let you put her down, it gets stressful. Mini Ducklings know this and developed Soothie Sleeve plushies.
Its the time of year when many people go back to school and that includes moms. I know that when I was a new mother, studying was difficult when my colicky baby wanted attention. Soothie Sleeve Plushies are great for moms work work, are going back to school or just wanting a break from holding their sweet babies.
Mini Ducklings
Created by pediatrician Dr. Sarah Donahue, Mini Ducklings is the company who created the Soothie Sleeve. Donahue loves being a mom and loves her job caring for little ones. Her dream was to create products that combined the two loves. She wanted to produce simple, fun, playful and effective products that would help both parents and children.
Mini Ducklings name came from the fact that baby ducks imprint on their parents and create a strong bond with them. Donahue’s children used to follow her around like little ducks follow their mamas so it was only natural for her to name her company after them .
Soothie Sleeve
I was skeptical. I didn’t know if this little plushie would actually make my granddaughter calm down when her mama wasn’t holding her. How wrong I was!
Here’s the deal: Each plushie (there are four different animals) come with a removable outfit. The outfit is designed to fit on mama and daddy’s forearm. When worn for a while, it absorbs mama or daddy’s scent. Then the outfit goes back on the plushie. The baby cuddles with the plushie and because it smells like mama or daddy, baby calms down.
Does this work? Heck yeah it does! We have two of these cute plushies: Emmy the Elephant and Baxter the Bunny. My son took one sleeve and my daughter in law the other. Later that night, my son was at work and my daughter in law was begging for a shower. The baby was so fussy. We gave her the bunny with mama’s scent on the outfit and baby girl settled down almost immediately. I’m a believer in this for sure!
Close at Heart
Each Plushie comes with a book to share with your baby called Close at Heart. The book was written by high schooler, Ellie Donahue. She is daughter of creator of the Soothie Sleeve, Sarah Donahue. This book explains the many ways in which the plushie can comfort your child.
I am so happy to have discovered these plushies. My grand baby adores her bunny and elephant. We use it to play with her and she cuddles with it when she sleeps. Mini Ducklings are really onto something with the Soothie Sleeve plushies.
