Some of Our Favorite Games
Snail Mail
Time to put on your thinking cap and help out our Snail Mail Carriers! They’ve got a lot of deliveries to make, and they need your help. Match the numbers and colors on the cards in your bag with the goal shown on the Delivery Card. It won’t be easy, but it’ll be a whole lot of fun! Ages 7 and up.
The Mermaids Jewels
Mermaids have been scooting about in the mystical sea, collecting beautiful gems on their journey. They have an enormous treasure chest full of “pearls,” and they want you to join in the fun! Collect pearls from the unique pearl sorting treasure chest after rolling the die. You can win if you assemble enough of the treasures of the sea to create your necklace!
Big Boggle
Start the timer, each player searches the letters to make words of FOUR letters or more. When you find a word, write it down. Words are formed from adjoining letters, and the bigger the word, the more points it’s worth. You get 3 minutes to make as many words as you can, and the points are tallied at the end of the round. Ages 8 and up.
Words Over Easy
Another word-building game with a twist. Load all the “eggs” into the hopper. They are sorted between the green and red trays. Make all the words you can using letters in the green tray, but none from the red tray! When the timer run out, the player with the most words wins the round! Ages 8 and up.
Chinese Checkers
A wonderful introduction to strategy-based games. The game begins with 2-6 players. The object of the game is to get all of your colored pieces into the triangle on the other side of the board. Be the first player to do it and you win! Ages 7 and up.
13 Dead End Drive
The objective of this game is to be the last surviving heir and inherit Aunt Agatha’s money. Which one of her varied group of friends and employees will claim it? Ages 8 and up.
My Thoughts on How to Get Away from the Screen
Kids and technology usually go hand in hand. And who can blame them? Most adults use technology all the time too! From our computers to our cell phones and tablets, I bet most of us Moms have some screen nearby more often than not. Trust me, I am in the same boat. And while screens and electronics are helpful in a lot of ways, sometimes? Nothing beats the kids or family gathering around a game at the kitchen table. Whether it’s a word game, a card game, or even something completely silly like feeding hippos, every type of game can be fun and educational at the same time while building family bonds. Here’s how we get away from the screen with Winning Moves Games.
Games are a great way to spend time with family and friends
Playing tabletop games aren’t just a good way to enjoy time with the family, but you can easily include friends too! Whether you invite neighbors over for a game night or the kids want to include buddies from school or sports, there’s always time for a game or two. Like 13 Dead End Drive board game. Players work to find out who will inherit Aunt Agatha’s estate! There are multiple ways to win and the game is never the same twice.
They help teach kids important skills like math, strategy, and vocabulary.
If you have younger children in your game night, you should include games that are perfect for their young minds and fingers. For example, I know plenty of young girls who would love to play The Mermaids Jewels. Beads and jewels fill a treasure chest and with a roll of the die, you add to your necklace. Also, if you create a chain reaction, you get to add even more pretty pieces to your necklace. The first mermaid to finish wins the game!
Another option would be either a game like Snail Mail or Words Over Easy. Snail Mail helps work with numbers and colors. If you complete all the requirements on the mail card, you win the card by making that delivery. The first player with 6 deliveries wins the game! Words Over Easy is another great option to help with vocabulary and creativity. Each round, players are given letters they CAN use and letters they CAN’T use to form words. Not only do you find out what words you came up with, but you hear everyone else’s too. We’ve found this is a great way to help with spelling and learning new words as well.
Board games encourage socialization and teamwork.
Playing tabletop or board games is a great way to just enjoy spending time with others. Whether you help each other make your next move, or simply enjoy the conversation and laughter, I’d suggest a game like Big Boggle or Chinese Checkers. Big Boggle is all about finding words before time runs out and you can even play it in a team format. And Chinese Checkers can be played with up to 6 players which is great for a larger group of players!
If you’re looking for a way to get away from electronics and have some fun family time, Winning Moves Games has you covered. They even have new games for 2022 for you to add to your collection. With a variety of games to choose from, both kids and adults can learn new skills and have a blast playing together. Board games are a great way to spend an evening, and they help teach important life skills like math, strategy, and vocabulary. So break out the board games and get away from the screen with Winning Moves Games.
