Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday” and is celebrated with lots of eating, fun festivals, parades, etc. This year it’s March 1st!
It is the last night for eating rich foods before the fasting season of Lent.

Festive Mardi Gras King Cupcakes Recipe
Ingredients needed:
- 1 box of vanilla cake mix + additional ingredients per instructions + 2 tablespoons cinnamon OR your favorite recipe
- Vanilla frosting in piping bag with star tip
- Small green, yellow, and purple candies – I used M&M’s and Skittles
- Candy coins, green & yellow
- Green, yellow, and purple edible glitter
- Themed party edible glitter – I used one with stars and complementary colors
- Craft feathers in green, yellow, and purple
Ho to make these fun Mardi Gras King Cupcakes:
Bake cupcakes per recipe and cool completely.
For candy filled cupcakes, scoop out the center of the cupcake and fill it with candy.
For coin cupcakes, simply press 1 or two coins into the center of the cupcake.
Pipe frosting on each cupcake in any desired pattern, a tall swirl works best.
Sprinkle on edible glitter in different patterns on each cupcake making sure to include green, yellow, and purple colors of traditional Mardi Gras on each one.
Finish with additional small candies, coins, or feathers.
