How Smart Parents Help Themselves Wake up in the Morning

June 23, 2021 by Pam Maynard

You’ve all been there. You’re up before the sun rises with not enough sleep and kids to get ready for the day. There’s just one problem: your eyes won’t open and you can’t get out of bed. Looking for a quick fix? Here’s a few ideas to get you through the day:

How Smart Parents Help Themselves Wake up in the Morning

A Cold Shower

Skip the hot water and go straight for a nice frigid shower. Even though the warmth might feel nice, it also might make you want to stay there all day. Cold water will get your brain and body moving. Plus as an added bonus, you won’t want to stay in that shower for long.

Go for a Run

Sure, the initial steps to the door might feel like someone put weights on your back, but once you get some oxygen flowing to your brain, you’ll be surprised to find how awake you feel. Get moving, get your blood pumping, and it will get easier as you go.

Coffee

Need an extra kick in the morning? There’s nothing better than a good strong cup of coffee. Coffee is a great tool to use to help you wake up each day. It is filled with caffeine so it helps stimulate your sense. Some coffees, like Colombian whole bean coffee, is a tasty treat to those who enjoy it. There are plenty of reasons to use coffee to help you wake up in the morning.

Go to Bed Earlier

Easier said than done, right? It might sound simple, but the earlier you go to bed, the earlier your body will naturally want to wake up. Have to wake up for the 5am grind? Try going to bed at 9pm to get your full 8 hours. It’s amazing what a little bit of extra sleep will do for you.

Multiple Alarms

If all else fails, setting multiple alarms is always a smart idea, especially if you’re prone to not waking up at the first one. Setting alarms on multiple devices (e.g. phone, alarm clock) will help to change the stimulus to your brain and increase your chances of waking up fresh.

There are many ways to wake up in the morning and one way does not work for everyone. Try a few different ways to find your favorite. Combining different options is also a great way to start your day. The important this is doing what works for you.
