Ingredients needed for your Peeps:
- Peeps marshmallow bunnies
- Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 tbsp. oil
- Mini Marshmallows
- Long lollipop sticks
Suggested Tools:
- Wilton Candy Melt Scoops and Tools
- Microwave safe bowl
Instructions to make your Chocolate Covered Peeps:
Step One: Cut mini marshmallows in half. You will need one half for each bunny.
Step Two: Insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of each Peep. You want to push it through carefully until you feel it reach almost to the ears, being careful not to push it all the way through.
Step Three: Pour the bag of chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the chips for 30 seconds and stir. Microwave again for another 30 seconds and stir. If the chips are not quite melted, microwave again for about 15 seconds. Be careful not to overcook them. Also, the bowl may be really hot!
Step Four: Stir the oil into the chocolate until well combined.
Step Five: Hold the Peep by the stick, over the bowl of melted chocolate. Use a spoon to coat the bunny in chocolate, covering it well and letting the excess chocolate drip off.
Step Six: Place a marshmallow, cut side down, for the tail.
Step Seven: Stand the chocolate covered Peep in a glass or jar to dry.
Step Eight: When the Peeps have dried you can put them in a clear cellophane treat bag and tie with a ribbon or string.
These Chocolate Covered Peeps can be made up to 1 day in advance. After two days they will still be good to eat but not look as pretty.
