Do you fidget all the time, or rip at your nails while sitting still? I do, I almost always need to do something with my hands. I will doodle on paper, check for dead ends on my hair, and rip apart my poor defenseless nails. My children also tend to be busy and not able to be still. Their fidgeting is more intense and seems to be an actual distraction from school and such. Therefore we got Calm Strips to ease the fidgeting and save my nails.
About Calm Strips
These pretty strips are actually textured sensory adhesive that you can stick on many surfaces. Phones, laptops, notebooks, and desks just to name a few. Calm Strips are made to aid with sensory needs. You can use them by touching and rubbing the textured surface. If you focus in on the gentle texture, you can focus and ground yourself. Another use would be to scratch the strips. Here you can replace fidgeting with the scratching action, and keep your hands busy. Lastly you can pick at the edges of your Calm Strips. Instead of ripping at nails and skin, you can pick at the strip. Since the adhesive is high quality and reusable, you can pick and then stick it back down over and over again.
Functional and Decorative
Not only do these little strips offer big relief to busy hands, but they are so pretty! I got Night Sky, After the Rain, Morning Sea, Vivid Waves, The Solid Collection, and Blast Off. Some designs are seasonal, but they always have some cool designs to pick from. They send them in little envelopes with great quotes on the outside. I really like reading the quotes. They also offer some great bundles, so you get more calm for less.
Durable Calm Strips
These pretty sensory adhesives, are able to stick wherever you attach them. Plus when you remove them they leave little to no residue. They are rated to stand up to the elements, such as sanitizing and water, for up to four years.
Mom’s Thoughts
I stuck my favorite Calm Strip, the star one, on my phone. Now instead of messing with my fingernails, I pick at the edges of the strip. I also have the rocket one on my laptop, and I run my fingers over it while I think. My daughter has one on her phone, and one on her journal for church. She always stays busy at church with stuff that distracts her from the message. Now she can scratch or run her fingers over her journal or pick at her phone while she listens and pays attention.
Best of all these strips do not break the bank, so you can be generous with them. Give your kids a handful to put on multiple items. I am going to mail my eldest son some in the Air Force. He can stick them on his things to help him focus. You can order them for your classroom of children at school, or give them to restless children you know. I gave some to my nephew so he could try and focus during his school. They are easy to apply, pretty to look at, and an easy way to calm yourself, and self soothe anywhere!
