It’s true that Covid has left us all in lockdown, at least for now, and that that means many of us haven’t seen our friends or certain portions of our family for some time. This can be quite tough for us all, and we do empathize. That said, sometimes, keeping ourselves straight and focused in lockdown is as important as it ever has been, and that requires a certain amount of self-care.
Taking pride in your appearance and self-care is often a fantastic effort people use when hoping to present themselves to the world. But in the midst of lockdown, how can you feel good about yourself? Surely, it’s a little tiring and can feel quite upsetting to realize just how little we can wear our nice clothes, or that it doesn’t really matter if we make an effort in that day? For some, it’s freeing. For others, a nice balance can be found, despite the social limitations. Those are the people we hope to take inspiration from. Let’s consider what that means in practice:
Dress Up For An Evening In
It can be nice to be a little ‘extra’ just for the sake of it. Perhaps you and your partner are hoping for a nice romantic night in, with a special dinner or takeout food set. You could dress up in your nicer clothes to make a real night of it, to look good for one another, and to spend some time looking forward to a special night. Dressing up for an evening in isn’t silly, it’s making a night special, and it’s showing that no matter the external circumstances, you can still enjoy yourself! This also gives you an excuse to wear that item you’ve unfortunately had to shelve for some months now.
Try Some New Accessories!
It can be nice to try some new accessories from time to time to update your appearance. This might come in the form of a new helix piercing, or additional jewelry you rarely wear. It could involve deciding to use another bag you’ve had stored for a while, or, as right now, purchasing better, more expensive, more beautifully crafted face masks and supporting your local boutique store. You never know just how much a little novelty can inspire taking care of your appearance once more.

Play With & Upgrade Your Wardrobe
Remember that clothing and fashion isn’t a set of invisible rules that you must conform to or else. There’s no rule against wearing a pack of the same t-shirts and trousers, and looking the same each and every day.
Fashion is only worthwhile when you’re having fun with it, when it’s a celebration of life and you can enjoy looking your best. In this way, you might decide to play with and upgrade your apparel in lockdown, which could involve sewing and repairing certain clothes, cutting sleeves off, adding accessories, and generally retrofitting clothing to work for you not yesterday, but now. That can help you define your own style more prominently – and often, that’s the same as feeling good in fashion.
With this advice, we hope you can begin or continuing to feel good about your appearance in lockdown. We think you look just great!
