My Thoughts
If you are a parent you probably remember searching high and low for “that” favorite lovey your little one needed to sleep or be comforted. I can remember actually driving back to grandma’s to get a lovey that we forgot on more than one occasion. Over the years, I learned that as soon a favorite lovey was chosen, I bought several of them and rotated them out.
Teaching your little one to self soothe is part of their learning to sleep alone. Our little one has started sleeping in her own room now and she is learning to self soothe when she wakes up at night. Having her soft lovey available really helps. It is sweet to hear her talking to herself and her lovey as she goes to sleep or before mom comes in to get her up. I can just imagine the conversations these two will have over the years!
We recently introduced a few cuddly toys to our little one. She hasn’t decided on which will be her favorite, but she is leaning towards the elephant.
