If you want a great indoor/outdoor activity to get your family and friends moving, try CROSSNET. This awesome game is a exciting mix of Four Square and Volleyball. It is easy to set up, and simple and fun to play. The hard part comes when you have to stop the game, but no one wants to end their fun! Whether you play in your yard, at the beach, at a park, or inside a gymnasium, you and your friends will be sure to have a good time.
About CROSSNET
This game was created by two brothers, Greg and Chris Meade, and their childhood friend, Mike Delpapa. These guys got together and were reminiscing about childhood fun they had with Four Square. Then they had an idea to combine that with Volleyball, and made a prototype. They realized they were on to a great idea, based on the excitement of their friends that came over to try it out. Therefore CROSSNET was created!
CROSSNET comes with everything you need to play, including the ball and a pump. Best of all it all goes into a CROSSNET backpack for easy storage and transport.
Mom’s Thoughts
I am always looking for a fun, entertaining game for my church youth group. I knew I had to bring CROSSNET in to see how they would like it. Set up inside was a tad tricky because you cannot spike the supports into the ground. We did the best we could with paint cans to weigh the sides down and we tied the supports to tables and just got real creative. Hindsight is 20/20 and there are actual CROSSNET Bases I can order to make setting up indoors a breeze. I just didn’t realize that when I was setting it up.
I really got it for outdoors, but was impatient to try it out right away. The kids love the game. They played for more than an hour, and stayed way past youth to keep playing. I finally had to run them off, so I could pack it all up and clean. My husband was having just as much fun as the kids. In a couple weeks we will have a fall festival, and CROSSNET will be the outdoor star of the day.
Outside Play
Next we set it up in our backyard. This was much easier since we could stake the supports in the ground. You can adjust the height of the net based on who is playing. There are three settings for men, women, and children. We used the lowest one at church, and the middle one in the yard because we knew no little children would be playing. We had family over, and they really loved CROSSNET. It is a hit across all ages , and both guys an girls enjoy it.
Night CROSSNET
Since we had an outdoor light, we had the game up for our Halloween party. The kids were out there in very cold weather playing CROSSNET until way after midnight. We marked the tethers with glow sticks to prevent running into them, and then let everyone have a good time.
I like my teens to be active, and this activity sure beats staring at a video game or the TV. It was perfect for our Youth, plus fun family gatherings. I know we will use this over and over again. I was so happy to see the level of excitement from my kids, and all those who got to play it with us so far! This game would make an epic Christmas gift this year for your whole family!
