About 30 Watt
At 30 Watt, we ideate, design, and manufacture unconventional products and gifts that empower people to be clever. We tell stories and solve unique problems through form, high design and function. Our CEO, Ryan Walther, began his career as an early partner at the Onion during his college days in Wisconsin. He aided their rise to a household name, sowing his comical oats there for more 20 years. During that time, Ryan met Arik Nordby—the creative mastermind behind the Onion’s most popular product at the time: a prank gift box now affectionately known as the Prank Pack, and sold by Prank-O. (Now a child company of 30 Watt, Prank-O was featured on Shark Tank in December 2018 when Ryan and Arik pitched Prank-O to the Sharks.)
Face Planter
This ceramic planter has built in nose and ears to safely hold your glasses. Measuring about six (6) inches square, this planter is the perfect size for growing small indoor plants. The face (front side) can be drawn on with dry erase markers (not permanent markers) reflecting your style.
Some of our favorite ways to use our face planters
This planter takes on the personality of the user. Just look at the creative ways my crew has found to use their 30 Watt Face Planter.
As a gaming headset holder. Now our headset that goes with the gaming system is always where it can be found. Placing it over the Face Planter helps to keep it safe and there is a place for the remotes too!
As a bed side corral. Searching for my glasses and the remotes buried somewhere in the bed linens is not a favorite past time of mine. Now they are all corralled safely off the bed but within reach. This would also be great as a phone charger. Simply slip the cord through the drainage hole in the bottom and plug into your phone before turning in for the evening.
As a pen holder. No more searching for a pen, marker, or pencil! I placed a square of felt in the bottom to cover the drainage hole and the catch any ink that may want to leak out of the pens or markers. A couple of paper towels or napkins would do the same thing too.
And of course as a planter but with personality. What a cute way to give your plants a creative flare. Draw a face (or any deign) to compliment the plant inside. Depending on where you are placing this planter, consider placing small pebbles inside to assist with drainage and place on a saucer or drain saucer to protect the surface under it.
My Thoughts
I am the first to admit that I had as much fun if not more designing the Face Planters. And while some of the uses may have been off the intended use, they are awesome. I like the bed side corral so my glasses are safe but close since I need them on my face before getting out of the bed. Being able to locate the remotes for the bed and the television are also a bonus for me.
The other uses have been helpful and have certainly been conversation starters for anyone visiting our home. Even my class on zoom noticed the plant on the counter. I was asked, “Does your planter have a face or does your face have hair”? I guess the plant does look like hair on the top of a head. And who doesn’t like finding the gaming headset being stored safely instead of tossed down where the pets or younger siblings can reach it!
If you are looking for unique planters that can show off your personality, make sure to visit 30 Watt and order yourself a couple of their Face Planters. The planters do not come with dry erase markers or the plants to fill them, so think ahead and add them to your shopping list. You can also grab these Face Planters on Amazon along with the markers.
