These days many children are home, learning at their kitchen tables. Due to that, a Froggy Lair is the perfect new addition to your house. It is a Biosphere which houses two adorable Dwarf African Clawed frogs. With this Biosphere you have a great STEM project for you children. It was even named Science Toy of the Year by the store chain Learning Express! These froggies make great first pets, as well as added pets to multipet households. They are cute, easy to care for, and offer lots of learning.
About Froggy Lair
Pet Adoptions this year have gone up by leaps and bounds, as more people are at home. Froggy Lair is a wonderful solution to those seeking pets to love and nurture. The Lair is an Octagon Biosphere which comes with Bio-active sand, colored gravel of your choice from the 12 great varieties, a bamboo plant, some decorative rocks, light, and two frogs. The Biosphere is a self regulating system that will teach your children about science. It is low maintenance and such a pleasure to observe with the nice LED light it comes with. Your frogs will swim, and nap among the rocks. There is also room to add your own decorations.
Froggy Lair Arrival
Due to the nature of sending live frogs, I was given a time of arrival of our little friends. Once they came by next day delivery, I had to go ahead and set them right away. It was so exciting to open the box, and find all the goodies inside-including two frogs. Everything was packaged well, so there was no injury to the frogs or other materials. I had distilled water on hand per their instructions. Then my daughter and I set up our two Froggy Lairs.
Froggy Lair Set-Up
First you put in the Bio-active sand, which acts as filter converting waste and excess food to nutrients. Then the gravel goes in, mine was marine blue and hers was purple passion. Next you arrange the three decorative rocks. Water was next, with a coffee cup lid or small bowl to pour into. This trick keeps all the sand from clouding up the water. Pour slowly until the water is a few inches from the top. Then you put in the bamboo plant which consumes the nutrients and aerates the water. Then the frogs and their water are gently poured into the Biosphere. Then you can fill in more water to get the level close to the top. Now your Biosphere is all set and ready!
Mom’s Thoughts
I love animals and the joy they bring to the family. It helps teach the kids responsibility and to be nurturing human beings. These frogs allow young kids to have a pet in their room that are super low maintenance. You only need to feed these guys twice a week, and change their water infrequently. The light in their Biosphere can be an accent light in a room, or their nightlight. I love to have science in action for learning, this Froggy Lair is a great way to introduce science to children. My daughter has her frogs in her room, and mine are in foyer. They are a great conversation piece when friends stop in. Plus when those friends bring their kids, I can tell them about the self sustaining environment my froggy twins live in.
These frogs are adorable and will really brighten your day. All you have to do is decide on your gravel color and then pick a few cute frog names. After that you are good to go! These Biospheres would also make epic Christmas presents!
