If you are looking for a simple and step by step guide for clearing the clutter, this is the book for you. It’s easy for someone to say, just get rid of stuff you don’t use or love. My first thought is, yeah if it was that simple, we could all have beautifully organized homes.
So if you are ready to dig in and work through the clutter using a 3-step method that actually makes sense, you will on your way to less clutter and more organization in no time. The book goes through room by room and includes worksheets to help you “figure out” the style and system that works best for you (and your family).
Be a Professional Organizer at Home
The system will have you thinking and working like a professional organizer in your home. Yes, the goal is to end up keeping only what you love, need, and use. After that, by streamlining your stuff into the areas where needed, will help you keep everything in the correct place. If you are like me, putting things back where they belong is a good part of the messy in my home.
With practical tips, the author explains how getting organized is desirable, achievable, and sustainable. One thing I am learning is that the “clutter” isn’t just the stuff in my home. A good amount of it is within me. The way I think, process, and handle the stuff makes the biggest difference. Having less stuff, makes taking care of my home easier. And I am all about easier housework.
As you work through each area in your home, the section includes tips on the following:
- 5 clutter culprits
- 5 pro tips to combat clutter
- 15 things to let go of now
- Style tips for every room
This book simply will inspire you to tackle one room at a time, while you overcome being overwhelmed and have fun organizing as you go.
In this Guide to Mindful Productivity, the author walks you through creating purposeful plans that work for you. By prioritizing your life, you will begin to live your passion while having more free time.
Tackling your TO DO list is not just starting off at the top and working like crazy. If your day goes like mine, often I have more on my list at the end of the day than when I started work.
The process teaches you how to breakdown tasks into different categories including monotasking and batch working. This was interesting to me. It has taken a little getting used to working like this, but I have to admit I see more projects actually completed. As moms, we all know that we fill up our days, but it doesn’t mean we are being productive.
If you are great a creating your TO DO list and then not knowing where to start or how to get it all done, you will love the simple process in this book.
Having more mindful productivity habits can combat these challenges by helping you keep track of your goals and accomplish them. You can pick the right methods to achieve things without feeling stress, anxiety, or the pressure of external factors while also improving your focus and living a purposeful life. Life doesn’t always go as planned, and when that happens, we want to be prepared to be our most productive selves.
Each chapter in this book will guide you in becoming more productive through a mindful approach to the task at hand. Within the chapters, you will learn to:
- Pursue progress over perfection
- Embrace the chaos
- Set boundaries
- Create realistic objectives
- Practice mindfulness
My favorite line from the book is:
Show your schedule who’s boss
by making it work for you – not the
other way around!
Progress over Perfection will help you enjoy a more stress free lifestyle, as well as learn to embrace the unexpected challenges that WILL come your way. I love that the author stresses that it’s possible to be your true self and achieve anything you want, even among the chaos.
All baking lovers will be over the moon with this book. Celebrity baker Mich Turner has compiled a sweet collection of recipes that will have you drooling. From simple to showstopper, your baking skills will sky rocket.
Start off with easy recipes including simple cakes, biscuits and cupcakes. Through tips and guidance, you will soon be ready to move on to the next level. Using the simple recipes you have mastered, the author shares how with just a few extra steps you can turn these into fabulous creations.

In this book, the importance of breathing and how we can use the process to heal is introduced. The author shares several simple ways to intentionally and effectively breathe. I was surprised to learn that most of us don’t breathe properly. Yes, we all breathe; but learning different types of breathing can do a lot to how our body works and feels.
Knowing how to breathe and how to use your breath purposefully has been proven to reduce negative mental and physical issues and actually heal the body and mind.
25 Breathing Exercises
Drawing from breathing practices of several traditions, this book includes 25 simple exercises that can be practiced alone or with a partner to facilitate proper immune function and enhance connection, creativity, joy, intuition, or to reduce depression, anxiety, trauma, tension, and physical aches.
Issues such as breath-holding patterns are addressed. I didn’t realized how often I held my breath until it was brought to my attention through this book. Now I quickly notice the pattern and am able to switch back to normal breathing. Identifying the causes has been helpful to me. One benefit is that I am not clenching my jaw as often because I am more relaxed.
Breathing patterns include:
- 4-7-8 Breath
- Energizing Breath
- Box Breath
- Pursed Lip Breath
- Lion’s Breath
- Diaphragm Breath
- Alternate Nostril Breath
- Skull Shining Breath
- Ocean Breath
- Multi-Part Fast-Paced Breath
Other areas discussed are through the book include exercises that help with creativity, those that encourage laughter and joy, and how to cut energetic ties with harmful dynamics. For me, the starting and ending practices have been wonderful. My day is kicked off with a few moments of meditation and breathing. And then before bed, the process is repeated which helps my body relax so sleep comes quickly.
This book shares how stretching is important to our well being. The author Bob Doto, is a licensed massage therapist. He shares not only how but what you should be stretching to improve your health.
Having recently had an accident, I have found the stretches in this book so helpful. There are 60 specific stretches included that cover you from your head to your toes. Stretching is something that everyone can do just about anywhere. It is easy to do, and has been proven to relieve pain, help with recovery time, and help manage daily stress and anxiety.
Topics covered in this book include:
- Why we stretch and why it feels good
- The basic anatomy of stretching
- The benefits of stretching
- General guidelines for performing stretches
Each of the stretches have a body map that is color coded showing which areas are being used. They also include a drawing, detailed directions, and helpful tips to help you better perform the movement.
Not sure which type of stretching you should be doing?
There is a section on what stretches you should be doing based on the most common occupational and sports activity profiles. The section also covers the most common injuries and how these relate to your body.
