Hidden Places
Be ready to be transported around the globe as the author highlights twenty-five of the “world’s most obscured places”. Travel along to remote locations that you have to climb around and wade through to catch a just a glimpse of what used to be there. Forgotten cities that have just recently been rediscovered. As well as secret places that were purposefully hidden when built to serve as sanctuaries from persecution. Each of the twenty-five locations around the globe are presented with a unique view.
There is so much of the world that most of us will never see. Some of the places visited in this book will touch your heart as well as blow your mind. Be ready to want to plan your own discovery trip when you finish this book. The author would love for readers to just take a moment to delight in the serenity and seclusion of the secret escapes collected in this beautifully illustrated guide, full of surprise, wonder and sights otherwise unseen.
An Almost Zero Waste
If you are looking for ways to reduce your global footprint, this is the book for you. In this book, the author guides your journey to a sustainable living lifestyle. Starting slowly and with small steps you can begin to see how this lifestyle is attainable and realistic. Throughout the book, the author shares her tips, strategies, recipes, and DIY projects for reducing waste.
What is zero waste living? Simply stated it is attempting to send no waste to landfills. Yes, this is something you can at least make huge changes in your waste without going off the grid. You don’t have to live in the middle of 20 acres with no power or running water. Yes, even a regular person living in a subdivision can live an almost zero waste lifestyle. Living a zero waste lifestyle isn’t necessarily about reaching a zero waste, but more about changing the way we see the world around us. Think it is as ways you can make better choices when it comes to single use plastic items or some of the convenience items that we all love to use.

Warriors, Witches, Women
Settle down and dig into the history of several notable figures from mythology and folklore. Learn about feminist fairies, half-human harpies, and protective Vodou goddesses just to name a few.
Each of these stories are powerful. Some of the heroines include:
- Bewitching, banished Circe, an introvert famed and feared for her transfigurative powers.
- The righteous Furies, defiantly unrepentant about their dedication to justice.
- Fun-loving Ame-no-Uzume who makes quarrelling friends laugh and terrifies monsters by flashing at them.
- The fateful Morai sisters who spin a complex web of birth, life and death.

My Thoughts on these Summer Reading Titles
I am a lover of books. I read several a week and finding a large variety is never a problem on Quarto Knows. They have something for everyone! Each of these titles have been interesting to say the least. I’ve learned more about being a mom and gran as well as being forced to think about the amount of waste I toss in the trash can without thinking. And while I am not necessarily a fan of mythology and folklore; one of my adult daughter loved it. And finally, I think we can all agree that if everyone was a little kinder to each other, the world would be a better place.
