As a busy mom, I just don’t have time for some things. And I used to think that included CBD. I get that CBD can be a great addition to a mom’s hectic life. But I also read in the news that a lot of CBD products are snake oil contaminated with all kinds of bad stuff from synthetic cannabinoids to heavy metals and pesticides.
But I don’t have time to learn the ins and outs of CBD science to tell the best CBD products from potentially dangerous ones. If I don’t have a clear-cut game plan on how to quickly identify a good product from a bad one, I just won’t get anything at all.
So I developed a quick three-part check that lets me know if a CBD product meets my standards. It doesn’t take any research and builds on your own general knowledge as a smart consumer. Here are the top three things to look for to ensure you’re getting safe, effective, quality CBD products.
- The USDA organic seal — There are literally thousands of CBD brands out there, but only a select few offer products that are USDA certified organic. This is a very high standard of quality control, and organic CBD oils also taste way better. We have all seen the USDA organic seal in the produce section of the grocery store, and we all know those fruits and vegetables are more expensive than conventional produce.
- QR code — This is a newer technology tool that you’ve maybe seen around but had no reason to use yet. A QR code is the square box made of black and white blocks that looks something like a UPC code. If you have an iPhone you can scan a QR code with your phone’s camera app. For a CBD product, that QR code should link to lab reports, which is the third thing you need to look for.
- Lab reports — Here’s where this gets a little technical. You need to make sure the CBD brand tests for safety. That means test results for pesticides, heavy metals, solvents, bacteria, mold, and fungus. If a CBD product has a QR code, it’s very likely they check for these contaminations.
So, what CBD brand do we like best that passes our busy mom three-step safety check?
The answer is Cornbread Hemp. Based in Kentucky, where a 250-year tradition in hemp farming never really died out, Cornbread Hemp takes CBD oils and CBD lotions to the highest level of quality and safety.
You’re right to be skeptical of CBD products. But with a simple checklist like mine, you’ll be able to find a CBD brand you can trust like Cornbread Hemp.
