I don’t know about you, but I’ve always loved those sweet figurines from Precious Moments. The soft colors, the sweet and heartfelt messages, and the overall delicate design of their products. And I found that my own children enjoy them just as much! And over the years, they have started making other items too. Like stuffed animals, home decor, and more. What better time than around Easter to gift the children in your life with these lovely items meant to be enjoyed year round? I’ll tell you how we made Precious Spring and Easter Gifts from Precious Moments this year.
About Precious Moments
Precious Moments founding artist Samuel J. Butcher’s artwork has always been inspired by faith, family, and friends. His soulful illustrations of children with teardrop-shaped eyes were first featured on popular greeting cards. When Mr. Butcher saw the first sample of a Precious Moments figurine more than 40 years ago he was awestruck. The sculptor had captured the very essence of Mr. Butcher’s iconic Precious Moments artwork Love One Another and had brought it to life. In that moment, one of this humble artist’s dreams had come true.
In 1978, the Original 21 Precious Moments figurines were released to worldwide acclaim and a new collecting and gift-giving tradition was born. Around the world, Precious Moments became known for its beautiful, hand-painted porcelain bisque figurines featuring children with captivating teardrop-shaped eyes.
The Precious Moments Collectors’ Club was born in 1981 and grew to over 400,000 Members worldwide. By sharing common values of loving, caring, and sharing, collectors formed a close knit, yet far-reaching global community. Family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers bonded joyfully as they celebrated everyday moments and special occasions with Precious Moments figurines.

My Thoughts on Precious Spring and Easter Gifts
Easter morning has always been a great time in my house as my kids are growing up. When they wake up, they of course hurry to the living room to find their baskets that the Easter bunny has left for them. And these are usually filled with some candy, toys, a new book or DVD, and little things specifically special for that child. Then we will have breakfast, get cleaned up and head to church for service. And sometime in the afternoon or evening, most of the family will get together and we’ll have a wonderful meal after an Easter egg hunt in the back yard. It’s a wonderful day for everyone, whether they are young or old, and we get to celebrate the religious reasons for the holiday as well.
This year things were of course different. And while we didn’t get to gather together with everyone, we did want to continue the celebration of the season with those around us. And while I don’t have anything against candy or sweets, I do think they should be kept limited to small amounts and special occasions. So instead of loading them up with sugar on Easter morning, I try to find other items to put into their basket. For instance, a new stuffed animal or toy, depending on the child’s age and preferences.
Take the lamb, bunny, and chick, for example. All three represent spring time and Easter. And each one has that unique, Precious Moments design to them. I think it’s about the eyes, really! Plus none of them have sharp pieces or even hard edges which would make this dangerous for the youngest of the crew. So in the youngest child’s basket, I put the Luffie Lamb. The lamb is so soft and almost all white fur makes it perfect for any boy or girl. Those little ears stick out from the head and honestly? They are used as carrying handles quite often.
The “Oh Hoppy Day” bunny went to the next child. The way his head is tilted just kills me. While he is obviously well suited for Easter, he’s really perfect for any other day of the year too. He’s super soft and cuddly. And he fits well in the crook of a small arm around his neck. What, they need their hands free for other stuff! You just can’t help but smile back at his little grin on his cute face. And then there’s the little yellow chick who is a real tweet-heart! She’s only about eight and a half inches tall so she’s super easy to carry around or tuck into a backpack. And all that cheerful yellow plush just looks absolutely warm and perfect to keep their spirits up.
Rejoice in the little things pedestal plate
The pedestal plate made the perfect decoration for the table. I love the sweet little bunny that’s clutching the flowers at the base of the elevated plate. On the top is a message that says: rejoice in the little things, big things, and everything in between. This is a perfect reminder to celebrate and find joy every day, in all things, not just the big moments. The decoration around the stem of the pedestal goes all the way around, so even guests on the other side of the table are treated to the beautiful colors. It’s perfect to hold cupcakes, muffins, cookies, or any other little treats you want to display for friends and family!
And while the book, “The Joy of Easter“, wasn’t for one particular child, we did enjoy sharing it together. Of course the story of Easter is well known, and they hear the message during the church service too. So I liked that this book covers the traditional family day of celebrating Easter together. The sweetly illustrated book covered the day from finding Easter baskets to attending worship, and a meal with the family gathered around the same table. Overall, this sounds like many family’s Easter day as far as I can tell, and so would be perfect as a gift. This year we gathered around the Zoom screen with those we could not spend the day with and read the book together.
