6 Space Themed Books for Toddlers

January 25, 2020 by Pam Maynard

Being surrounded by fun and informative books is a must for every growing child- the right books can fuel your child’s inspiration and curiosity and can be a great balance between the discovery and enjoyment.

To help you with just that, here’s a list of the 6 best space themed books for your toddler, that will help him explore the wonders of the universe. Read on…

6 Space Themed Books for Toddlers

Goodnight Spaceman

Don’t be surprised if Goodnight Spaceman makes it to your toddler’s favorite list. It can be an excellent bedtime read, which takes your child gliding through the stars and the universe, with eye-catching illustrations and fun rhymes.

Make sure you also get your hands on other books in this series- Goodnight Digger, Goodnight Pirate and Goodnight Santa are some cool ones.

Baby Loves Aerospace Engineering

The Baby Loves series are perfect for toddlers, and this one in particular, simplifies complex science concepts. The artwork in the book is beautiful and catchy- perfect to get growing kids interested, and the use of age appropriate language makes this book tick all the boxes.

Margaret and the Moon

Margaret and the Moon is an excellent children’s book that doesn’t just introduce your toddler to the concepts revolving around space, but also focuses on Margaret Hamilton and her contributions when it came to the Apollo 11 moon landing, in a time when women were expected to stay back at home. The book can help young girls find a strong role model in Margaret, and find their passion for space.

Space Walk (Lift the Flap Adventures)

Space Walk is probably the best space themed book on our list. Carefully crafted, you can take your kids on a cosmic adventure with this one by simply lifting the flaps and visiting the 8 planets, one by one. Your toddler will also be able to discover more about each of the planets as he keeps going through the book- a perfect introduction to the solar system.

Hello, World! Solar System

This one’s the perfect book for preschoolers with its bright and colorful illustrations. You can also introduce this as the first non fiction book for your child. Designed to make learning about space fun and interesting, the book is designed as a board book.

Plus, if you loved this one, you can also look at the others among the Hello, World series- everything from ocean life, birds, bugs, weather and so much more.

I Am Neil Armstrong

Last, but definitely not the least, this book is penned down by Brad Meltzer, a bestselling author, and covers the journey of Neil Armstrong, and how never giving up helped him get to the moon. The book begins with him as a child, trying to climb to the top of a maple tree and until his first steps on the moon.
