Last year, while watching the big game, I watched a commercial for a major brand that introducted me to the world of ASMR. What is ASMR? It stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. In a nutshell, it is a serious of sounds and talking that “trigger” your ultimate senses and put you into a relaxed, restful state of mind.
What I never realized is that everyone has these type of triggers that subconsciously make people feel better. For come it could be the sound of soft taps on a hard surface, for others it could be the sound of scissors cutting, reminding someone of a delightful haircut or scalp massage. For me, I love the soft sounds of rain trickling on a metal roof or against the windows.
I have found that as I get older, I struggle to sleep at night. I have the weight of the world on my shoulders and on my mind. I have to have some type of noise in the background to help me sleep, while others need complete darkness and utter silence. I recently starting trying a new set of ASMR sleepphones from AcousticSheep, LLC.
