Thanksgiving is all about friends, family and fun! One of my favorite “fun” things is Mickey Mouse! What a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving with these Thanksgiving Mickey Ear Cupcakes! He looks so dapper in his pilgrim hat! Wouldn’t the kids love these at the dessert table on Thanksgiving day?

Pilgrim Hat Ingredients and Supplies:
- 1 package of brown fondant
- 1 package of black fondant
- 1 mini circle fondant cutter
- 3 inch template cutout of a pilgrim hat
- 1 Edible black marker
Directions to make the Pilgrim Hat:
Sprinkle some powder sugar onto a cutting board and roll out the brown fondant to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out the pilgrim hat, about 24 of them. Then place them onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Roll out the black fondant into 1/4 inch thickness and cut out 48 circles for the ears. Allow them to dry for 3 hours.
Using the black edible marker, draw a thick line in the middle of the hat.
Makes 24 cupcakes
Spice Cupcakes Ingredients and Supplies:
- 1 box Spice cake mix
- Ingredients as listed on the back of the cake mix box
- Muffin Pan
- Cupcake liners
- Electric mixer/ mixing bowl
Directions for baking the Spice Cupcakes:
Preheat oven as per directions on the box,
Put the liners in the muffin pan. Set aside.
Following the directions on the box, add and mix all ingredients as instructed.
Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with the batter.
Put in the preheated oven and bake for 22 minutes.
Check to see if they are done. ( Insert a toothpick into the center of a cupcake, it should come out clean.)
If they are not done, check again every three minutes until they are done.
Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Vanilla Frosting Ingredients:
- 3 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
- 6 C powdered sugar
- 5-7 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 large piping bag with large star tip
- red, yellow and orange gel food coloring
Frosting Directions :
Using a standing mixer combine the butter, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and mix on medium speed until combined and smooth
Divide the frosting into 4 bowls
Mix in 1 color for bowl, leaving the 4th bowl plain
Place the piping bag into a large cup and fold the sides over.
Scoop each color onto a side of the piping bag.
Pipe frosting onto the top of the cupcake.
Place the hat into the middle of the frosting
Place two ears on the side of the hat.
Enjoy! These are perfect for Thanksgiving Dinner Dessert- kids and adults will LOVE them~
