About Wishing Pixies
Wishing Pixies consists of dolls, a magical story, and an interactive App for children 3 years old and older. In the story line, the Pixies were forced to leave their world and have come to Earth because Earthlings are loving and caring, thus it is the perfect safe haven for them. The App is an educational family behavioral mobile game for iOS and Android designed to help parents create and reinforce positive and healthy behaviors for their child. When the Pixie is loved and nurtured, by completing tasks inside and outside of the app, the child will earn pixie dust. What are Wishing Pixies
The concept of Wishing Pixies was started by a mom while pretending to be her child’s tooth fairy. She (as the tooth fairy) and her child started writing notes back and forth. It was through this exchange that her child shared their thoughts, concerns, and worries. She knew that she learned more about her child than she ever would have as her mother.
Adopt a Wishing Pixie
In order to adopt a Wishing Pixie, select which version your child would enjoy. These cute little Pixies are named Cailin (girl) and Gasur (boy). Each adoption includes a Wishing Pixie and an Adoption Certificate for your child.
Once you have your Wishing Pixie, set up your parent account with a secure username and password. Then install the Wishing Pixie App on your child’s device. Children will sign onto the Wishing Pixie App using their own username and secure password.
The App walks you through the necessary steps to get everything set up. First you will be asked to enter your child’s information. You will have the option to use a username or nickname if you don’t want to use their real names. Then you will be shown how to create tasks (recurring or one time assignments) for each child. Make sure to assign “pixie dust” value of each task so your child will be able to claim some of their wishes.
Encourage Your Children Through Positive Thoughts and Actions
The App includes both meditations and affirmations that you can change. These positive statements would be things you want your child to say out loud every day. Again make sure to assign the amount of “pixie dust” that can be earned by doing these tasks.
Other tasks that might be helpful for your family can be set up within the parent account such as no fighting or yelling at your little brother, being ready for school on time, doing what the teachers ask in school, etc. Think along the lines of what tasks you would like to see happen that would be a way to encourage your children.
There are actions within the App (aka games) that encourage your children to help others. The Pixie asks them to help clean up her room or help with the garden. It is cute to see how our little one interacts with her “new bestest friend”.
Redeem Wishes
Once your child has earned some “pixie dust’, they can make wishes through their device. You will need to approve or decline the wish requested as well as set the pixie dust value required for them to cash in on their wish. When your child has earned the correct amount of pixie dust and wishes to redeem their wish, you will see a Redeem Request in the parent area.
Provides a Line of Communication
Through the chat feature within the Wishing Pixies App, parent’s can chat with their children as the pixie. Your child can chat with their little pixie and the parent can send messages back to the child. I think this is my favorite part of the Wishing Pixies App. Depending on the age of your child, this feature may be used. Our little one who is four can send messages to her Pixie. I showed her how to use the talk to text button in the App. She loves sending messages and telling stories to her pixie.

About Tinkering Labs
Toys with step-by-step instructions aren’t always the most kid-friendly. From someone that is not real smart when it comes to building things, this kit makes sense to even me! As a parent, I do appreciate the attention to safety that Tinkering Labs shows throughout the kit. The warnings are clearly marked and explained. I think it is easier to get children to understand the reason for the safety rule if they understand the why. This kit explains reason and includes the why in clear wording and images.
