Are you looking for a fun group activity, or maybe just something to wile away the time for your kids? Check out Dig It Up! for fun excavating fun for all ages 4 and above. This will entertain your kids, and even adults. My husband even enjoyed discovering a dragon in his egg. Whatever your interest you will find a Dig It Up! set that will bring a smile to your face!
About Dig It Up! from MindWare
Dig It Up! handily comes in four pack sets to keep the fun going at home, and at parties. The sets consist of: Mermaids, Fairies, Puppies, and Shimmer Dinosaurs in one set, and Dragons, Space, Sea Life, and Wild Animals in another set. Some of the boxes such as Fairies , Sea Life, and Wild Animals are available individually if you only need one. These mixes will give you lots of cute mystery animals, and creatures to play with after the fun excavation. Each set contains 12 individually wrapped eggs with a chiseling tool and instructions. Plus there is an excavation guidebook to learn more about each item you uncover. It might be a fairy, a sparkly Dino, or whatever theme the kit is in.
How to Dig It Up!
Excavation is easy and fun with these great kits. I love the golden dragon eggs which are so pretty, it is sad to chip them away to get to the dragon. First you soak the egg in water, and wait for it to sink. Then you wait ten minutes for it to soften some. Now for the fun part, chisel with the tool until you find the hidden dragon in this case. It is real fun to catch a glimpse of a part of the animal and try and guess what it is.
My daughter is excavating a sparkly Dinosaur here from her lovely, shimmery, purple egg. She loves to do these eggs and now has a little family of dinos that she can display or play with. They are in great colors and she then can learn about each dinosaur from the guide. Plus she has a few dragons in the mix because of the ones I uncovered.
Mom’s Thoughts
MindWare has a terrific product here with their Dig It Up! sets. I can see how these would be a big hit for birthday parties, scout meetings, church events, and daycare fun. Just imagine having a fun mermaid party for your daughter, all the snacks are mermaid treats, and the craft is a simple matter of passing out pre-soaked eggs to all the kids at a picnic table outside. This activity will keep them busy for a while, and they all get a great mermaid toy to take home.
You can even mix and match sets for more fun. I also like how there are girl varieties and boy varieties, and of course many that work for both. For those who don’t need party activities, these are fun on a rainy day at the kitchen table. Since you get four kits in each set, you can do one or two boxes, then give the other ones as Christmas presents. Another great idea is to open the boxes since they are individually wrapped and make gift baskets for kids, or stick them in Christmas Stockings. How adorable would an Easter basket be with these eggs instead of candy filled junk. These would take time and have such a fun surprise after all your hard work!
