How to Keep Your Family Connected with Friends and Relatives

October 1, 2019 by Pam Maynard

It’s important to stay connected with family and friends on a psychological level. Those that feel as though they have an extended network tend to be happier and healthier. Here are some of the strategies that you can use in order to keep your family connected.

How to Keep Your Fam Connected with Friends and Relatives

Celebrate Special Occasions

Plan get-togethers on special occasions. This doesn’t have to just include birthdays and the major holidays. It could just be that you’ve survived another week at school or work. Meeting face to face can spark new relationships and make others more willing to attend your events. It doesn’t have to be a big soiree. Consider planning a potluck and a watching a sporting event. The point is to get people together so that everyone feels comfortable.

Use Your Resources

It can be difficult to get people together when they live far away. This doesn’t mean that you can’t see them on a regular basis. Having a high speed internet provider can allow you to skype with your family and friends or even to use social media methods in order to stay in contact. This will save you from having to make a long trip just to keep in touch. Using the resources that are available to you will help you to still spend time with your family and friends even from long distance.

Make it a Priority

It’s important to spend time together as a family. This philosophy needs to extend to more than just your immediate family. Establishing the precedent that staying connected is a priority in your family will help you to get everyone on board. Setting aside time on a weekly basis will also help you to achieve this goal. You have to develop a routine that allows you to show that it’s important to stay connected.

Get Everyone Involved

Make it a bonding opportunity that you plan your next event or that you skype as a family. It will mean more if everyone wants to join in your efforts. You may want to set aside time after family game night to skype with long distance friends and relatives. Establish a family social media platform. This will allow everyone to add in their own updates and see what other members are posting for your family.

There are so many benefits when it comes to developing your social network. Use these methods to enable you to stay connected with everyone that’s important in your life.
