Can you resist a cheesecake? Cheesecakes, —be it topped with fresh blueberries, mangoes and all other yummy fruits—are indisputably everyone’s favorite dessert. But how about CBD-infused cheesecakes? Have you ever had one?
With the rising popularity of cannabis-infused edibles, there seems to be no end to developing these booming recreational food products. And with so many CBD- and THC-infused products available nowadays we,—the cannabis consumers of today—can experience a new high by making home-made cannabis snacks.
So, back to cheesecakes. Did you know that you can make your own CBD-infused cheesecake? Yup, and we bet you’ll love it too!
What Is Baking With Weed?
Baking with weed is the process of adding weed to your baked goods.
Don’t be fooled. It surely isn’t as easy as purchasing Delta 8 THC Gummies, but if you follow all the steps outlined you will have a tasty cheesecake ready for you to dig in.
However, you can add weed to your cookies, cakes, muffins and more. You can also use it to make a nutritious cannabis oil that can be used in all kinds of dishes. You can use baking with weed to medicate your foods or to make edibles, which you can use to treat a variety of ailments, from anxiety to insomnia.
If you’re new to baking with weed, you don’t need to worry. Unlike cooking with weed, baking with weed is easier. When you bake with weed, you are mostly focusing on flavoring.
You are not actually cooking with weed, which means you can make delicious baked goods even if you’re a beginner.
Why Marijuana In Baked Goods?
The reason why so many people bake with weed is that it’s the perfect way to get high. When you eat baked goods that contain weed, you experience a slow and steady high.
This is different from smoking weed, which delivers a more intense experience. Because baked goods take longer to digest, the high from weed-infused baked goods is long-lasting and can last up to 8 hours.
Another reason why people bake with weed is to medicate. Baked goods with edible cannabis can help you treat a variety of ailments and conditions.
Weed helps people who suffer from nausea, PTSD, chronic anxiety, and more. However, keep in mind that when you bake with weed, the amount of THC in your baked goods will depend on a few factors. To ensure you get the maximum amount of THC in your baked goods, buy the highest THC seeds for growing your own weed.
Cannabis-infused butter
Cannabis-infused butter, or cannabutter, is something new on the shelf. With cannabutter, you can prepare delicious cannabis edibles at home. And it’s the easiest way for you to incorporate cannabis in your baking.
There are 3 options to get your butter: (1) make your cannabis-infused butter using cannabis flower, (2) make your cannabutter using CBD oil or CBD hemp flower, (3) buy your cannabutter.
Making cannabutter
If you want to get the “high” effect of cannabis, then making your cannabis butter is the route you should take. Using only the following ingredients and item(s), you can make your THC butter:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup ground cannabis (bud)
- Cheesecloth
The steps:
1)Decarboxylating (aka decarb) your cannabis. This is a crucial step for you to activate the psychoactive potential of your cannabis. Otherwise, you’ll risk having an inactive finished product.
- You need to slowly heat your cannabis at a low temperature. So, decarb your cannabis in the oven by:
- First, preheat your oven to 245ºF, while placing the buds on a non-stick tray.
- Second, place the tray into the oven, and—depending on how old and dry your cannabis is—set the timer for 30-40 minutes.
- Once you’re done decarboxylating your cannabis, you can now move to step 2.
2) The next step is to grind your decarb cannabis coarsely by using a hand grinder. Do not over grind to a very fine texture.
3) Then, melt the butter and add 1 cup of water into a saucepan. Make sure not to burn your butter.
4) While the butter is melting, start adding your decarb cannabis. And let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 2 hours. Stir occasionally, and see to it that the mixture doesn’t come to a full boil.
5) Once your mixture cooled off, strain your cannabis butter using a cheesecloth.
CBD-infused butter
If you want to get the full benefits of cannabis without the “high” associated with THC, then you should make a CBD-infused butter. You can use the same instructions above to make CBD cannabutter.
You can infuse the butter using a CBD oil or CBD hemp buds. Ideally, however, when decarboxylating your cannabis, you should do so without exceeding 350ºF. This is because CBD cooks off easily at this temperature.
Buy CBD butter
However, if you want to bake your cheesecake without the hassle of making your butter, then choose the easiest option—buy one! You can buy cannabutter online or on your favorite cannabis store.
Making your CBD-infused cheesecake
Here, we will be using CBD-infused butter for our cheesecake. CBD, a non-psychoactive part of Cannibus, is perfect for this dessert. Since desserts are comfort food, when you infuse it with CBD, it’ll help enhance your mood and bring total relaxation.
This is a base recipe for making cannabis-infused cheesecake. You can pick any topping or flavor you prefer.
Also, since CBD cooks off easily at 350ºF, we won’t be baking it. Instead, here, it’ll be a no-bake cannabis cheesecake recipe.
Ingredients:
The crust
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 16-20 Graham crackers (crushed with the consistency of breadcrumbs)
- ½ cup melted (CBD) cannabutter
The filling
- 16 oz cream cheese (ideally at room temperature)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp water or milk
- 1-pint heavy cream
- 1 package gelatin
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ºF.
- Prepare the crust by adding the ½ cup melted CBD cannabutter, crushed 16-20 Graham crackers, and 2 tablespoons brown sugar in a medium bowl.
- Mixed the crust ingredients until all graham crackers are coated with cannabutter, and the consistency is like that of wet sand.
- Using a non-stick springform pan, press the crust mixture and also bring it about an inch up the sides of the pan.
- Par-bake the crust mixture in the oven to set its shape in about 10-15 minutes, or until the color turns to a golden brown.
- In the meantime, prepare the cheesecake filling by whisking the 16 oz cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Then add 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 cup granulated sugar, and mix it until well combined.
- Using a separate bowl, beat your 1-pint heavy cream until it gets a soft peak. Add your remaining 1 cup of granulated sugar and beat it the stiff peak forms.
- Next, using 3 tbsp water or milk, dissolve your 1 package of gelatin and then add it to your cream cheese mixture.
- And you can now combine your cream cheese and whipped cream mixture one-third at a time. You should fold it carefully to avoid deflating the air whipped into your cream.
- Finally, pour your filling mixture into your prepared (and cooled) crust. Then add your desired toppings. You can leave it in the fridge to set for at least 4 hours before serving.
